If you put your sofas in the same configuration as the pictures, I'd put behind the sofa at the entry way a long desk with storage drawers on each end in which to place materials.

But a lot of this depends on how you work and live. I love having a large dining room/work table. If this were my place I'd have a much larger table in it and some kind of cabinet where I could store materials and projects in cases and tray that I can pull out and work on at the dining / work table.

IMO find a spot where you can add a large type cabinet with a space in the center to drop down for crafts but can be put aways when not in use all the stuff stored in the cabinets.This would be perfect

Do you own this and are able to make modifications? I would remove those built-in benches as they take up floor space and waste potential storage space.

It looks like you can move the sofa facing the TV closer to the TV. Then add a rug under both sofas near TV area to help ground the space. Then look at getting a sofa table (or desk) to place behind the sofa that faces the TV. Note in both images below there are sofa tables. You could use a desk as well, but it might be what works best unless removing the benches near the fireplace.

IMO the benches should be the same height as a table for storage with a spaot in the center or one side to sit at to work so that is pretty useless IMO . Then all you stuff in drawers and well oragnized looks nice and functions . Fly tying is not a huge need for big items so maybe 2 Ikea cabinet with a worktop joining the 2 to get work space . I kea gives you the ability to do drawers in layouts that fit your needs .

How much stuff do you need for tying flies? My first thought was those benches would be the perfect place to store all your craft stuff and just put a nice table in front for you to work on.
