Modernize Split Foyer

Hello,

I have a 1979 split foyer home. My dream is to make it a beautiful modern home. The roof was replaced two years ago, so id really like to keep it. Any suggestions or ideas where the roofing would not need to be replaced but still give this home a beautiful new look. Thank you

Replace the bay window along with the other things mentioned.

Here's a few examples of things you can do:

Is there a circle driveway in the yard? I can’t tell what that asphalt in the foreground is.

The sidewalk and porchlet partially made of 2x8s (?) is very odd. Are they intended for handicapped access? (I’m not sure though because if there’s a handicapped person I don’t know how they would handle the split foyer indoors.) All that needs to go and be replaced by concrete designed especially for that purpose. Nice and wide and roomy.

The tortured, overpruned evergreens are past their prime.

Thank you, a handicapped person did live here. They used stair lifts inside. Lots of work to be done. The driveway is not a partial up to near the door.

Remove all the tudor wanne be trim remove and replace the box bay window do some much more modern landscaping . No octogon window and I assume the ramps are neccessary so make those wider they are very useable for all people .Paint the house black a black garage door with a lot more glass and a matching front door . I just read no need for ramps so that is good, I need to see the whole house yard from furhtr back too. Post here in a comment .

This is the view from the street. Will get a picture without the card there.

Depends on your budget. At the least paint the front a charcoal color. Paint the entire thing one color, don't use a separate color for the "tudor" strips. Tame the shrubs that are against the house.

For a new look quickly, paint the stripes the same off-white color as the walls. Remove the old shrubs. Remove the access ramps. Fertilize the grass before the next rain. Add a new door mat at the front door.

    Then take some new photos.

In the fall, you can plant a couple 100-bulb bags of daffodils after amending the worn-out soil with a vast amount of compost and adding fertilizer. You can follow the sun and shade for a year to see what kind of plants can go where.

You can paint the house either dark or light. Below is the light version.

Remove the tudorish planks, paint the entire house in a warm white with black trim, doors, and windows. Work on your landscaping, your shrubs are too big. Install large sconces and street numbers. With this scheme, you can also have wood double front door and garage door.

Oh my on that short drive up to the door! We can fully see now that it formerly was used by someone with handicapping conditions.

Remove that partial drive ASAP. Unless, of course, there is still a serious need for it. Reminds me of some of the rural backwoods homes in my region where the owners drive right up to their front door because they can. Usually in a pickup truck. And a hound dog tied to the porch for good measure.
