I really like the look and comfort of a club chair and ottoman. You can put them in the same location and place a small table beside.

Can you show the other two walls (asking regarding your question about an alternative location, to know if mirror and highboy can be moved down or elsewhere, so won’t feel as heavy at that end of room and to better accommodate 2 chairs). Do you need/want two chairs, as size and location choices are affected.

A chair(s) shouldn’t be decided on until the above is figured out. Budget is important so as to receive more relevant suggestions.

I would find a new spot for your mirror, move the tall dresser over a bit and put the new chair in that corner.

The other wall has a high boy (husband’s dresser) and closet door (and my air purifier…sadly a necessity with my allergies and all this carpet)

I don’t need two chairs - my husband never uses my existing chair except to put on shoes in the morning.

For budget on a chair, I’d say I’d love to stay in the $400-700 range just because I’ve got a few projects I’m working on also. But if it’s truly the perfect piece I could spend more.

Also before anyone comments on it - I know the art over the highboy is too low/wrong for the spot! It's going to depart for somewhere else soon.

Before buying anything else for the room, I’d replace the floor. If you need a rug, an area rug on each side of the bed might be sufficient. We removed wall to wall carpeting, and I don’t need an air cleaner. Worth the expense!

We will ultimately remove the carpeting and put down wood, but we don't plan to do that for a couple more years

I see a bit of what looks like a large long media piece across from the bed that has a lot of empty space in it and a TV above. I'd save up for a dresser to put under the TV. Use it to replace the tall dresser next to the corner mirror. Then relocate the mirror. Use the freed up corner to get a chair, tiny side table, and lamp.

This might be bigger than your current budget. Have you looked on Facebook market place? I just got a very comfortable Anthropology for my bedroom brand new for 50% the price. Some good finds to be had on there.

I concur about carpet removal. Your health is the most important.

Move your mirror from the corner elsewhere. (Hallway wall can be a great place for a full-length mirror .) Push the dresser over then get a comfy small-scale recliner with a lamp sconce on the wall for a reading nook. If you do a search for "Nursery upholstered recliner/rocking chair/swivel" many examples of small bedroom-friendly armchairs will come up.

I'm definitely coming to the same conclusion about the tv furniture - I'm looking at it with some fresh eyes and realizing that I'm just using it to store books and hide cables, so I could move the books out and put a longer dresser in its place to swap for the high boy. I'm also considering whether I could just get the highboy into the closet...lots to think about!

Honestly, you have a lot of furniture in that room. Most couples don't need 3 big pieces with drawers in one room in a modern house. Usually, there is plenty of room in closets for items that used to go in drawers before walk-in closets were standard.

I would look for a nice recliner that doesnt look like a recliner. I’s nice to put your feet up when working on a laptop. I dislike having to move an ottoman around. Room and Board has some great recliners that don’t look like it. Eta: jujust looked at their site and they are $$. There is a pinterest page with ”Recliners that don’t look like recliners” that has some great examples but it won’t link here for some reason.

I would try to fit it where the mirror is, so you can enjoy looking out the window.

If you can get the high boy into the closet, I say give it a try temporarily and see how you like it. I'm always in favor of less furniture in a room rather than more.

I like Ikloes suggestion for a club chair and an ottoman. I love this photo, though it is lacking an ottoman. You seem to have enough space in front of the window. It looks great and you have the natural light behind you for reading.

Did a search for chairs in your price range and finding a decent chair will be hard. It’s probably not urgent to replace your chair, so perhaps wait for sales, look for floor models and try Marketplace (below is an example of what I found in minutes). First figure out your furniture placement though.
