Shape of room bedroom is irregular so not sure where to put bed and tv. Or what to do with the big blank white wall

Is your apartment a rental or condo and how long do you plan on staying there? I buy furniture to last beyond my next move. In fact, most of my furniture I purchased 15 - 20 years ago and it has lasted me many apartments.

I like light, airy, natural spaces. I always bet on black upholstery, medium toned wood furniture, sisal area rugs, and brass accents. Black is a fantastic neutral that you can accessorize with greens and earth toned throws and pillows. Plants pop next to it. And, it never clashes with neutral walls and goes with every kind of flooring. That said, I don't purchase over stuffed upholstery, which in black could suck the life out of a room.

Hard to know bedroom layout without seeing a drawing of the whole shape, measurements, and not knowing what size bed you have. My assumption is to but the head of your bed on the long left hand wall - left when you are looking in from the doorway. Put a TV on the wall that is most across from the bed, mounted on an arm that can swivel to the right angle for watching.

It’s a rental apartment. Will hopefully stay longer than a year this time, tired of moving lol so I figure black furniture would be the move so I won’t have to keep replacing it since blacks don’t clash like you said. I currently have lighter woods and bamboo furniture so it’s definitely looking funky at the moment. Torn between green (dark like olive or lighter like eucalyptus) or a natural color. Too light or dark feels like it could throw everything off

For textiles like bedding and towels

Black and warm and cozy in my head do not work. Black funiture is a serious commitment and is not IMO always verasatile at all. A nice meutral leather is a good choice and that can even be a nice darker navy or a cream or white. We need a lot more info as to your actual style . Do not ever get a sectional . A sofa and 2 chairs are usually a great choice for pieces though. Bedding find some you love then decorate around that choice . Green can be very neutral but also harder sometimes to work with. Not enough info to really help. Start some idea books then we at least get some clue as to what you like not what we like .

For my 2 cents, I suggest looking at the colors of the clothes you wear most often and let them be your guide somewhat. That way, you know you won't get tired of them and then wherever you move, your home will always feel like your place. Whatever colors you decide on though, a lighter neutral rug on those dark floors would help any color play better. I've moved neutral rugs around for years, including in different rooms, and they never go out of style.

I also think a sectional limits both moves and conversation. Just about everyone I know that has one complains about how people struggle to face one another to talk on them. Can't go wrong with a medium size sofa and a chair or two. Remember, the chairs don't have to match, they just need to relate to the rest of the furniture in scale and size..

I’d steer clear of the black and go with some of the earth tones that you like. For the bathroom find a rug with some pics that you like that pull in those colors. Same with your bedroom. We’ll need dimensions and the size bed you want to use to help with the layout in the bedroom.

You can do white or beige bedding and then add in brown or green pillows and a throw.

Have you looked through the thousands (more like tens of thousands) of photos on Houzz?

Set up some Ideabooks for different categories and start browsing the photos. Save the ones that catch your eye. You will start to see a pattern to the styles/colors/patterns that catch your eye.

Then come back here with some inspiration photos and ask you you can achieve a similar look, specially if trying to recreate a look on a tight budget.

I might look at a lot of pictures of kitchens on Houzz or YouTube until I found one I like then decorate your kitchen along the lines of what appeals to you. I say this because you kitchen has a non changeable color palette, is open concept, and will affect what is near or next to it. After the kitchen is done I would use it as a jumping off point for the color palette for the rest of the house.

Use second hand stuff for the rest of the house and after the kitchen is done you will find what you like and do not like and it will be easier to do the next room.

Also I think hiring a stager might give you valuable advice to see what can be one with the place in colors you like with out making a huge moneytary investment....sometime we need to actually feel and touch in place they way it should be. Either yes I love it or No way! LOL.

Leave it white. Put color in the rug and furniture. Inspiration photo:

You can do a black and white scheme, Choose a warm earthy tone for you sofa.

Get a (live) floor plant nestled in by the front windows.
