Pergo Defense+ hardwood or laminate?

We are looking for water proof engineered hardwood to install in our new home. I came across the following two on Pergo’s website:

(1) https://www.pergoflooring.com/shop/hardwood/pergo-defense+/detail/HDO48-02/natural-white-oak?title=Pergo%20Defense+&tab=collection

(2) https://www.pergoflooring.com/shop/laminate?installation=&look=&page=1&technology=&productline=&feature=&type=

They are both described as Pergo Defense+. First is $4.29/sf at Home Depot. The other is $3.22/sf.

My understanding is that the first is engineered hardwood while the second is laminate. My contractor insists that both are laminate because both are installed using click-lock system. According to my contractor, engineered hardwood are installed by nailing the boards down. Because the above aren’t nailed down, he insists that they’ll warp or move around particularly depending on the humidity.

Is my contractor right or should I consider someone else? Thank you in advance.
