That's a great picture Nat of Soli Deo Gloria. I can see why it's so popular.......As to your problem, I wish I could come up with a solution but the only two things I can think of that can turn multiple leaves yellow in various places in a fan (as opposed to old leaves on the outside getting ready to slough off) is either heat/cold or water. I had something similar happen this year to a new one I bought wherein one day I looked at it and at least 30% of the leaves were yellow. My other daylilies looked fine. But we did hit 102 that day and this is a northern bred daylily so I thought maybe it reacted to the high heat. My other thought is too much water. In my case however this group of daylilies all had the same amount of water so I tended to think it was the heat.....Within a week it was growing new green leaves to replace the yellow ones which never recovered and were removed. Just something to ponder. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.............And don't worry about not getting on here more often. We enjoy your visits when you are able...........Maryl

I've never seen anything like this except rot. When I've had it happen before the roots were OK, but the crown was mushy. Your photo of Soli Deo Gloria is gorgeous. How does that one multiply for you? Mine never multiplied past three fans.

Maryl I really don't know what to think, that was interesting that your new one had smth like that too. I too thought maybe too much water and then high heat right after but I don't know. It's funny they say the best fertilizer for daylilies is water, in particular rain water, of which they had quite a bit this year in comparison with the usual, and yet.

I might ask on the big forum, meanwhile will try to clean the worst one little by little.

Regarding Soli. I do not remember the particulars before last year but it has been struggling here. That I remember. 1-2 fans. Last year almost died but then sent a couple side shoots and stayed at 3 wimpy fans. This year 4 fans, very good size fans, all four scaped but one (probably) got the sickness and that scape dried out. Apparently likes warmer winters or no freeze-thaw in late winter / early spring.

I posted last year that I have a very big seedling from it, well it is even huge-r this year, such a monster, that its leaves suppressed and bent the scapes of the neighboring dayliliy which is a pretty vigorous and big plant itself. I was kinda mad at it lol

Soli Deo was good here this year too. I just dealt today with a potted plant that had a single fan like yours pictured. It was crown rot, and I scraped away the fan and dusted with sulfur. I don't have any expensive treatment for rot. This is the time of the year that crown rot sometimes occurs here. It's heat and stress.

Glad your Soli was good too, Mantis. Thanks for telling about your experience. I finally had a chance to work in the yard today, dug one seedling out, roots looked good, everything looked normal. I couldn't even pull the scape out. Other than not being green but light yellow it was not soft, did not smell.

I am not sure actually how crown rot looks, may need to look that up.

No idea why would mine be under any stress, heat and humidity like usual, good amount of rain, no spraying.. Maybe bugs?
