Match the red oak. It shouldn't be difficult for a flooring contractor to match the plank size and the stain.

LVP is going to look fake next to real wood. I agree with Sabrina. I put an addition on my previous house and the wood floors were successfully matched.

How go you deal with clearing bedrooms and getting wood flooring installed? Have to store planks in house for weeks? Is there a lot of dust ( haha), put visquine over doorways? Especially sine one room is our primary bedroom.

Marmie- yes, it’ll be a huge pain in the neck to install your flooring with real wood. I am sure someone can match it. Personally I will do just that when my time comes. You’ll need to coordinate with furniture movers or have someone in your family to move stuff. I’m thankful I have family nearby and can stay with them. I’m not sure if you have that option, but you will be thankful when it’s all done. A week or so of pain for a better outcome.

Get one of those driveway storage containers to house all of your bedroom furniture while the floors are being redone. You will likely have to stay elsewhere while it's being completed. I'd give it an extra day or two before you move back in to avoid any off-gassing from the floor finish.

IMO no fake next to real wood . Yes it is a bit of a pain to have done but really so worth it to have no wall to wall carpet . The stain usually can easily be matched on an unfinished wood floor of the same wood species . You might even get lucky and find prefinished in a stian that is pretty close so a good shopping trip could be the answer . Then no move out just removing furniture for a one day job. I think a close match will be fine since bedrooms often have a different floor that the rest of the house. We even just took all the furniture out of one room at a time the flooring guys were great at doing the job on 2 different dyas .

Patricia, that’s interesting also. My floors are a medium brown stain— and the 3 bedrooms are off the end of a hallway, so not visible from the main living areas. So a “ close- enough “ match would be ok, and pre- finished flooring might work. Had not thought of that , plus how that lets you pike stuff , which is I guess what we would do if were replacing carpet.

Put in the real wood to match what you have as closely as possible. You will get it back at resale. Lvp will always look fake next to real wood.
