iPad Pro vs Air?

I have been thinking about a new iPad for a while. Now I still can’t decide between the Pro or Air models. I’m definitely going for the 11” either way as I think the 13” is too large. All the other specs will be the same too (256 FB, wifi + cellular). The main difference is in the retina display of the Pro and it is thinner, plus a few other nice details but not sure it is worth the extra $300 or so. If you have one, maybe you can enlighten me. It’s not that I mind spending the $$, I just want to know if there is really some bang for the buck in the long run.

I’m debating about the pencil so any input on that is welcome. Thanks.

I have been an ipad user since the very first release ..not sure how many I have had but guessing 5 or 6. My experience is that the model that is best for any one person depends on how they are using it and for what.

I have the 10" air and would not want anything larger. I use mine primarily to read in bed (via Kindle app) and to surf the internet only when traveling. The 10" fits nicely in a number of my purses and is at the upper limit of size forcomfortable reading in bed.

My sister has the larger pro and loves it -- but she uses it as a more-portable-than-a-laptop device on the sofa, by the pool and when traveling. If I were surfing/shopping on mine, I'd want the large size also.

re: Pen ... I haven't had any reason for one but one of my nieces uses it a lot to take notes-- she has a screen protector that has "paper-like" texture that makes taking written notes very easy and very readable. I could see how it would be useful to some ... but I don't have a need for it.

The one thing that could change my mind is if the screen works better for my eyes--I may check that out but I don't have any real issues or complaints re: my current ipad.

I love my iPad. Have had a few. I also have no idea of the model or name, but I can’t see where I would ever have the need for the pencil.

I've always had Pros, so I can't speak to the Air. I don't buy cellular because I can use my phone as a hot spot if I don't have wifi so I can save that upcharge. I don't use the pencil, but I don't do video editing or graphics design work. I prefer the larger Pro with the keyboard because I use it as my computer and video monitor in place of a television.

Thanks for the info re the pencil. I’ve never used one with my previous iPads and wondered if it would be something fun to use. Maybe I’ll consider a keyboard later. I had one when I got my first ipad Mini years ago. I quickly graduated to the larger iPad and the ipad I have now is an Air, maybe the 3rd one I’ve owned and it’s probably around 5 years old by now.

I’ll likely stay with the Air. For what I do, it makes more sense.

Im on my ipad Air right now. It replaced an ipad Pro, which died a sudden death at an appropriate age. My old Pro had a home button and on the Air I swipe up. I really dont notice a lot of difference between them but the display is sharper on the Air.

I have an iPad Pro with a 13” screen and a cover with a keyboard. I’ve forgotten the brand of the cover….something pretty common. Together, they are pretty heavy. When I travel, I take off the cover with the keyboard and use a standard cover.

I have the one with cellular although I don’t have it signed up for cellular service. DH bought me one once without cellular. I wanted the option.

I like the size of my iPad. For everyday use I would not like any smaller.

I have the Apple magic keyboard for my Pro. It doesn't add much weight at all, about 20 ounces.

I have an Ipad Pro but have never used an Air, so I can't compare. We have a desktop and a laptop, and I have a Kindle, so for me the Ipad just needs to be basic. It was a gift; I wouldn't have bought one myself. I do not want the case or keyboard but do use a light cover. I also have the 13" and would not want to go smaller.
