Solid Surface Shower Base

We were planning on tiling our shower base but we heard someone mention a problem with leaking. Out of the blue this website popped up so I checked it out. I had no idea there were "solid surface" OR stone shower bases. I'm not thinking that might be the way to go. Has anyone ever heard of Hansel shower pans? That is the company popped up. Intriquing idea so I would love to have thoughts and opinions on this. BTW, it's a tub/shower conversion. Thanks!

I also have a custom Corian shower base (and shower walls), and I'm very happy with this solution to grout issues.

FMZ, do you know if one would have to get a Corian shower base if they're going to get Corian shower walls? I know there are other solid surface pans available. Also, with Corian shower walls can they build a ledge into it (vs niches)? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you can use any shower base with Corian shower walls, but I'm not an expert. I don't have a ledge, but I don't see why it can't be done with Corian. I don't have a niche either, we installed grab bars with incorporated shelves instead. If I had enough room in the shower, I would have wanted a ledge. I'm sure that Joseph Corlett can answer your Corian questions.

You don't have to, but why wouldn't you want to?

You can build nearly anything with solid surface.
