My wood fence has slats on alternating sides of the horizontal 2x4's so small rabbits can literally get in almost everywhere. Large rabbits have to go at most 12 feet along the fence before there is a gap they can easily get through.

I took 3' tall chicken wire and ran it around my 6' wood fence. I bent it so 6"-8" are on the ground. I then used random branches etc to hold it down. My fence is surronded by woods full of rabbits. If there is a large gap a rabbit can jump through I cover that to.

I have NEVER had a rabbit dig under the fence. I have found this keep 95% of rabbits out. True they can get it if the want but they rarely do.

Once one does I find the hole they used and patch it. 100% of the time they find a new place. Point is once they are in they never stop until they are dead. However my fence is cheap and easy and very effective. According to experts rabbits can easily get in - and this is true because once they come in I cannot stop them from returning.

Again my 2-1/2' tall chicken wire with nothing under ground works fantastic. Out of sight out of mind I guess most rabbits never care enough to try to get in. I suspect smell of dogs does not hurt.
