Ok, I would start by centering your dining set under the chandelier. I would definitely add a rug as well, that was a good idea. Because if your wall color and trim color, you could pretty much do any colors you want.
I’ve added some examples, but again, you could do just about anything in that space. I would also, after choosing a rug, find a different table runner, pulling from colors in the rug. Definitely add art to the walls, just to brighten the space.

Thank you for the rug ideas. My wall color is agreeable gray. I agree with centering the table. The reason it is off center is because it is one of the entrances to the kitchen. Should I get a rug for my table as it is with 6 person seating or get a rug for when the table is expanded for 8 person seating?

I personally would probably get a larger rug that would accommodate 8 person seating.
