I know!! We have so many ferral cats in our area. I don’t know why they aren’t going for them!

Rats don't dig burrows...they build nests in scrap heaps or walls. Moles leave visible furrows along the surface of the ground....harmless. If it looks like a hole in the ground, then it's a gopher...also harmless.

Knowing where you live (general area) may help someone identify what you have. Definitely not rats, cats won't go after moles, but some dogs will dig them up and kill them. I've never seen a mole stick it's head out of the ground, so what you have is most likely gophers.

Are you sure that rats don't dig burrows? I recently found a hole dug between my yard and my neighbor's yard, then a family member spotted a rat running between the hole and our patio. We set a trap and caught one rat. I had the same thing a few years ago after finding a stolen tomato from my garden near a hole.

Ground squirrels. rats dont dig.

Cats are still the answer. I always see at least one of my cats with something dead every morning.
