Your house is very busy so I wouldn’t add shutters at all. Shutters don’t belong on double/multiple windows anyway.

I agree you could use a bit of color. My go-to is cherry red or dandelion yellow.

    It’s going to be lovely!

There is noplace for shutters none of those windows should have them You can always sell the shutters do not IMO put them up way too much for the house and wrong. As for door color is tat your actual door ? If so that IMO is also not good for the house . I like the idea of red you might have to test a few but a nice cherry type red could work. I love the huge boulders how those are staying.. Once the house is done and you have added color to the landscpe and the porch then you will know better what color for the door .

Home is white garage will be black

How does that work? The house part seen from the street will be white and the attached garage portion is going to be black?

Agree with everyone else. No shutters. ETA: Practical reason not to hang shutters is because the board & batten will leave large gaps behind the shutters. Perfect harbor for wasp nests and other insects.

Lake house--paint the front door a water color? Get some samples and paint leftover drywall scraps or foamcore board and stand back & decide what you like.

You can sell the shutters. They won’t enhance the look of your house - they’ll look “busy”.

For the front door a fabulous ocean blue would be nice with the white and black. Something slightly pale.

I like the ocean blue above, since you are on a lake, or maybe even one that is a bit brighter, in a turquoise color. You have a lake house, it should look a bit coastal. If you are talking about the garage door being black, please paint it white like the house. Black will stand out too much and add an in your face type of look, pulling into the drive way. As to shutters, thats up to you, if you want them. They will not fit on your bigger front windows, in the entry way.

“If you are talking about the garage door being black, please paint it white like the house.”

Agree since it will pull too much focus. Also agree with no shutters.

Yes to a blue/green with white sidelights. A black garage door is going to look like a black hole just like in your last picture without the door. Have a white garage door. Also the drain spout should match the siding, it is not a design feature and the black is distracting.

^Meant to mention the drain spouts should be white.

Yes, gutters and downspouts would have been better in white, to just blend into the fascia/soffit and siding. Gutters and downspouts are not architectural/design elements. You don't need random vertical black stripes breaking up your white siding.

There is nothing wrong with a simple design! bring in color and texture with your landscaping.

Stop your builder from hanging the shutters and making holes in your siding.

many thanks for all the input and time you all gave answering me i wish i had posted sooner :(

    I'd sell the shutters too.

I think a door with sidelights - especially on a White House -looks great with all of it being one color (in this case a soft blue). Take a look at these three examples. The matching sidelights look better.

I also agree with RedRyder above, paint the sidelights too. Its a much nicer look, and makes more of a statement of your front door.
