Hello Houzzers!

We're replacing our front door and need input on the design left and right. Thank you in advance!

Here's what we started with:

It is currently in this state:

Here are 2 photos (mockups) of the door we'll be installing. The first photo shows applying clapboard left and right, as is on the rest of the house. The second photo shows applying a bead-board look left and right of the door.

Mockup 1 with new front door and clapboard

Mockup 2 with new front door and board & bead design. Mockup 2 with new front door and board & bead design. I also removed this starburst design in the gable in this mockup.

We can't center the front door, so please don't suggest that. Fortunately, from the angle of approach, it looks centered. To counter the off-center issue from up close, we're thinking we can put a vase or something similar like this.

Which do you prefer and what modifications might you suggest? Thank you!!

Would you consider a faux window on the exterior to balance the entry? A reflective surface or better, a strongly frosted glass could be used in the side panels, the faux side would obscure the interior and the non faux panel would afford privacy but yet the exterior would appear balanced. A bit out of the box, but faux areas have been used for eternity in housing…ie hidden doors for the servants!

I like option #1 without the starburst. And I’d remove the greenery in the red box below so your beautiful new entry can be seen. Pretty home!

IMO no starburst and no to one side light that door needs to be centered under that peak that is why thre are 2 sidelights in the old one . I think the door should be the star so same siding as the rest of the home . I agree the landscpaing needs work and I always like the front door to be seen

Would it be possible to make the entire entry wall glass (as in door and windows that span the entire length of the wall)?

I have a dislike of a single side lite! To me it always looks unbalanced and unfinished, like the builder cut costs or lost the other piece of the door!

Can you do just a wider single door or a narrower door with 2 side lites?
