Is there a reason you're not using drawers?

Yes, no base cabinet drawers. This is in a dining room. The base cabinets are only 18" deep and I find drawers that shallow to be pointless.

What you show in your drawing is fine.

Obviously you know what you need to store in that space.

I have a china cabinet with a base 20" wide. It has a combination of drawers and doors. I find the drawers to be perfect for tablecloths, placemats, rarely-used utensils (like those we use for crab legs); if I had deeper drawers I would use them for an ice bucket, water glasses, liquor bottles, large serving dishes that I don't want to display in the uppers. In other words, everything I currently have behind doors now could be stored in drawers, if they were sized appropriately.
