Looks like it is etched and if so you are not removing that. Sealing will not prevent etching at all. It is really only to slow the staining from spills, etc.

You can't do it yourself, however, a skilled technician can remove those and closely match the factory finish. After it's fixed you may want to use some Tenax Quartz Toner for some topical protection.
