Laguna, does it repeat for you?

I've had Laguna for several years, does a big spring flush and then nothing, maybe a sporadic bloom in August. It throws huge, thorny canes and is in a location that gets sun all day with the warmth of a stone wall behind it and adequate amount of water. No disease, lots of basal breaks and I prune it to a few main branches.

In other words, I am doing everything right and it's apparently thriving but I don't get any decent repeat bloom.

I have had Laguna for a year, and have yet to get a single bloom. Having said that, it is a climber, and a Kordes at that! (both Kordes' roses and climbers have a reputation for needing extra time to settle in and start performing, as a general rule) so I am willing to wait before I judge. It is considered to have good rebloom.

I've had mine 5 yrs. It is own root from J&P. It was supposed to be left at the other house but Noooo hubby grabbed it and put it in the truck at the last minute instead of PJP2 and another rose who was right next to it. So now I still have the evil laughing Laguna who has poor rebloom, wicked thorns, gets blackspot and some kind of leaf crud in the fall when nothing else does.

Mine is a champion bloomer in the spring then sporadic rebloom after that. It's as good as some other climbers once established after around 4 years, but not as prolific as - say- Florentina. Still, it's a keeper for me and doesn't blackspot nearly as much as Sultry describes.

Thanks all, so it’s not just me. I might give this the heave-ho as it’s been at least 7 years that it’s been around. It’s very healthy for me even in my area with huge BS pressure.
What’s a good reblooming climber which is healthy? Seems like I don’t have much luck with climbers past the spring flush.

two that have blooming on and off all summer are Annie Laurie McDowell and Raspberry Cream Twirl. I am in heavy black spot territory and both roses have a bit of black spot, but not enough to bother me or them. Raspberry Cream Twirl us only in it’s second season which makes all the blooms even more impressive.

I believe Annie Laurie McDowell is in her 4th year.

some people love Quicksilver, but I have it next to Laguna and it blooms less and black spots more.

I’ve also been pleased with Lady Ashe so far. It is still very small, but wants to bloom.

It took probably four years but my Laguna has two very good flushes that last a very long time

RaspRaspberry cream twirl has great rebloom and good disease resitance. Mel’s Heritage is a strong rebloomer in my garden with great disease resitance. Florentina and Peach Melba rebloom better than Laguna.
