Countertop Color

Just moved to a house on the lake and we are remodeling. We have ordered white shaker kitchen cabinets and have light oak vinyl flooring going in once the cabinets are installed. We have chose to paint the kitchen in the color upward from Sherman Williams. What color quartz countertops should we go with? We were thinking solid white or white with some gray in it? We are going for a modern lake house vibe! All recommendations and comments are welcome! I’ve attached a few pictures for reference!

Please tell me those aren’t 30” uppers. ‘Marble’ counters seem fancy for a lake house. Have you been to a stone yard? Your other selections are so achingly neutral you could get a stunning natural stone that speaks to your location.

    Consider a soapstone counter.

We have to do 30inch uppers because we have beams running across the ceiling so we are restricted on the height.

You are restricted on height for which cabinets?

    The top cabinets

Yeah, I got that they were the upper cabinets when you said they were obstructed by beams. Let’s try this. Which of the upper cabinets (#1-7) will be blocked by beams?

Does it have to be quartz? What about jet mist granite? It looks especially nice here with a white tile splash.

In your mock up your cabinets look cream and really bad with a white countertop. I know those colors are likely not representative, but it goes to show how challenging it is to match whites and off whites. Take a sample of your cabinet front and go to a showroom with quart countertops. You will start to see how hard it is to match the right white.

You show one photograph of the space and it has standard flat ceilings which I assume are 8’ which would allow 36” uppers with 6” crown or 42” uppers to the ceiling. Are you adding beams, or are there beams that aren’t showing?

I would personally pick one of the beautiful light corian shades. then id insert detail at the backsplash . looks like a couple stools/ hardware to be chosen ...those are spots for interest also .....I'd pick a simple counter . good luck

eye level interest at backsplash.....what would you like there? its a good spot whether color/pattern/shape ....

Shop with a door in your car! Go to every stone yard and countertop supplier. That’s the only way to find the right countertop. Your backsplash is the chorus, not the star. You’ll figure that out after your cabinets, countertops and lighting are installed. You can really get “beachy” with that tile. Or you can cheat, like I did and use beadboard that you paint for the backsplash.

    Love the color you chose.

Please don't use white quartz with gray streaks. It is so completely overused and will be the green shag carpet of our times in a few short years.

@Olychick -Than you for my morning laughter! I am old enough to remember wanting pink shag carpet in my bedroom!

I also agree with you that the grey streaked quartz countertop look will seem dated soon enough.
