We are higher and dryer in Temple Terrace, no flooding just rain. One brother, S Tampa, had to use sandbags. So far they are holding.

Our lake place in Pasco county is ok, although there are trees down in the community. Our boat broke loose and was sighted on the other side of the lake. Our neighbors rescued and returned it. DH is headed out with a few cases of beer to thank the rescuers.

Stay alert, there are other storms forming.

Oh I know - weather people were saying that the storm is pulling a lot of stuff behind it that will bring heavy rains/storms all through the week, I think.

You can see the bands on the radar - very ragged and spread out, and it's not moving very fast.

Last night they reported a storm surge in Oldsmar.

I am in Live Oak, a ways inland from Steinhatchee. It’s been pouring rain for 10 hours. Power went out at 8am, but we have a generator. All we can do is sit and watch the yard fill up with water and hope it stops raining soon. The wind has shifted a bit so hopefully it’s passing by.

Hubby tried to go to work around 10 am. Hit deep water and flooded his car. Two good Samaritans helped him push it off the road. It’s 12:30 and he’s still waiting for it to dry enough to start.

Pretty gusty winds but all our trees are still standing. We have a few limbs down.

Oh I'm so sorry, Donna. They've been warning people to stay put and not drive anywhere - esp. into standing water.

We are about 50-60 miles inland from Cedar Key & Steinhatchee and have had wind and rain for over 12 hours now. Flooded roads, downed trees, etc. While there are power outages around us, fortunately, we have yet to lose power. Fingers crossed as I do not have the right personality for no AC.

Donna - I didn't realize you had made the move to Live Oak. How are you liking it (other than at the moment!)?

I tried to convince hubby not to go out, but he is stubborn. We still have gusty wind and it’s still raining hard, so I’m not going to try to rescue him any time soon. Hopefully his car will start soon.

I just had shoulder surgery on July 25. I was a bit worried about the quality of health care in this much smaller community (orthopedist and hospital in Lake City), but everything seems to have gone well and the physical therapists are great. And driving 20 miles to Lake City is nothing compared to the 20 miles I was driving to work in Orlando.

I thought to suggest wearing hipwader rubber boots when driving in questionable areas, to wade into it before driving but thought that few would consider driving a car through water nearly that deep.

Regular rubber boots come up to just below the knee so might be sufficient ... or add a couple of plastic bags, secured tightly to both each boot and each leg above the knee by elastic bands, if one is more venturesome.

Beats driving one's car into the water ... and getting hung up.

Many years ago, hubby drowned my mom's car trying to drive through standing water that was much, much deeper than it looked - he said he started floating sideways and knew that was the end.

Yes, stubbornness I'm familiar with - he's been working outside today, cleaning up and trimming stuff wearing no shoes and no gloves 😏

Thinking of all our friends during this storm. On Maui we'd often see a storm stall out and drop rain for days, creating mud slides in the moutains and flooding the most populated areas near the ocean.

I’m sorry for all of you who are dealing with the flooding. The idea of losing power in FL weather sounds horrendous; Rubyclaire, I love how you put it:

My nephews in Jacksonville were complaining earlier that it was wimpy. A little windy and barely any rain. My DD in the Keys had three solid days of rain and wind but nothing too dramatic.

Fingers crossed that everyone keeps power and doesn't get impacted by flooding!

We just went through Beryl, and its impact was a bit of a surprise. We were only without power 8 hours, but every single person I knew was without power for at least 3 days, and a few for 9 days. Even with power, we didn't have internet or cell at the house. We had a tank full of gas, which I was grateful for because without power, nobody in town could pump gas. We decided, four days in, to just head out of town, and we drove 150 miles before we found gas. I realized through this experience that I'd gotten a bit cavalier, so from now on, I'll gas up, get some cash, and charge up all my chargers.

All you Floridians. hope Debby keeps moving and clears out of there leaving you all safe. I'm not happy to see another system brewing out in the Atlantic and they show it aiming at the Gulf. No one needs that.

Bestyears, glad you made it through Beryl okay. You were really lucky to get power back in less than a day! I thought we were lucky and we were out about 2 days - I think nearly 2-1/2. We got a generator last year so having to do it's first oil change on the fly was something we hadn't planned for and was a bit of a challenge, mainly to track down the right kind of oil with a lot of places closed. After that, it was a lot of clean up and waiting to get communications back -- that's the thing that bugs me most.

No, Carol, not my hubby, but that’s the same area that got him. We went back around 6 pm and the car still won’t start. It’s in the parking lot at Auto Zone and a guy there said if the water comes up above the undercarriage insurance will total it. Fortunately we picked up a rental car for me on Sat. since I can’t drive my manual Mini till my shoulder is better, so we just happen to have a spare car.

Wow. So sorry everyone is going through this...and more to come for the Carolinas. It's coming up our way after that and they're talking tons of rain. I'm always amazed at the power of these storms especially when you consider how heavy water is, and how much and how far they move it!

I just checked in with my friends in the Orlando area and they said they got 2" of rain and could use more! It all depends on where you're at!

I got 11.25 inches at my home in Lutz, north of Tampa. Thank goodness I had a french drain put in years ago.

I heard Live Oak got 17”. Our whole downtown is flooded. I feel so bad for all the business owners - who knows how long it will take to repair?

Sending good wishes to our friends in Florida and coastal Georgia and SC. When that rain settles in, it can do a lot of damage. Stay safe! I feel so bad for the people displaced by the loss of their homes nd belongings and the businesses who suffer damage.

Slow moving storms are the worst. We got about 12 inches with Beryl because she moved north and slowed down. A week earlier we weren't sure we were going to get any rain. Hope all in FL are safe and drying out. Those of you on the east coast, stay safe too.

Sorry to hear of all the flooding issues. When I used to live just outside of Jax we would flood alot from a small river branch behind our property. I would be up to my knees in water in the barn. It was such a nightmare. We are up in the Panhandle now and its a little hilly up here. Our barn is high & dry and I am so thankful. We still get a lot of crazy weather sometimes. We still have family in Jax. They didnt get too much rain this time.

Hi Carol! It was a real mess here down in Sarasota. Entire neighborhoods flooded. We were lucky and the water came about 36" from the garage and about 6" from flowing into the lanai so we stayed high and dry but people in our neighborhood were not so fortunate. Here is a photo from the front of our house.

It was garbage day too so everyone put out their trash the night before and all the cans (and garbage) floated into other people's yards. That was truly disgusting.

Glad you were OK, jerzeegirl - and so sorry your neighbors were not. I was just talking to visiting family last night about how the storm was so bad in your area. At the time, we were seeing the maps and news reporting about all the tornadoes and flooding there.

I am glad you all made it through the storms ok. We had a bit of rain with Debbie, but thankfully it was more like 4-6 inches instead of the 12-18 predicted over a few days. I have been slowly working to raise the level of my garden so it will not flood as much.

My composter floated into the canal and went downstream.

Have you all made changes to your yards to deal with more rain?

The HOA fees and home owners insurance have increased a lot in FL, hopefully you guys are ok.
