I like your brick for now. I wouldn’t make any changes to it until you know for sure what you’re going to do to siding and roof colors. I like the color you have now as far as a cottage look. I would just freshen it up, beef up your porch posts, and clean up the landscape with medium sized plants.

A cleanup is due on your landscaping so we can see ”the face of your house.” Sunflowers are nice, but not right in front. My rule of thumb is nothing taller than 2‘ or so in front of your porch/entryway.

I would soften the curves of the flowerbed a bit, making it easier to mow along and trim. It’s a pain in the keister (to me anyway) when my lawnmower can’t mow up into tight curves. Make it easy on yourself.

It’s hard to see much of the porch, but I can see the two spindly toothpick-like posts. Could you box them in (making them at least 4”x4”) with cedar? Neither the white nor the carved shape is attractive on this home.

Paint the garage doors the same color as the body of the house and your front door a contrasting color. Deep burgandy for the shutters and front door might be a nice change.

Is the driveway new? Looks nice and neat.

Great suggestions, thank you! We resealed the driveway a couple of years ago. I never thought to address the posts but that’s a good thought.

I would redo the posts, and if you could get them, at least 6 x 6, and have it fit the area, it would be even better than 4x4. Once you have them boxed in (its an easy simple inexpensive job), prime them, and paint the shutters, and the posts both charcoal. I would try to color match the siding for the garage doors, if you cant get a good match, then use the charcoal on them too. The charcoal goes well with the body of your house and also with your roof.

Landscaping needs refreshing. You don’t want to block the front door. Can you grow sunflowers off to the side somewhere? They are one of my favorites.🙂🌻
