I have stood by this advice for 60 years. My father was Mr Fixit, so I learned some things at a very young age. Our house had Delta faucets. In order for him to fix a leak he had to know the style and year model of the Delta faucet. We had to go to a specialty store where they had a catalog about 4 feet long from which to find the correct washers to fit our faucets. Our neighbor, on the other hand, had Moen faucets. He claimed he could simply replace the cartridge in his faucet and that he could find them at any hardware store and even some grocery stores. This was 1960. He was right. While my father never went with Moen faucets, I have never had anything but. I don't know what the cartridges cost nowadays, but I'm guessing under $20. During my 50 years of home ownership, I've only had to buy one cartridge. They use the same cartridge now as they did 60 years ago.

I’ve just ordered a Moen Adler faucet to replace my 10 yo Brizo Vuelo. I settled on the Moen because of its dimensions, which I think will solve most of the issues I have with the Brizo. The biggest Brizo problem is in an apparently faulty design that won’t allow the handle to turn off the flow completely without finagling .
