Won't it block off your corner?

Please show the whole kitchen with a floorplan that includes dimensions so people can give you the best advice for your situation. I agree with partim that what you're talking about probably isn't the best solution because of the corner. If you provide more information people can make other suggestions.

Just curious…is the current pantry around the corner from the fridge?

I don't have a picture of it but friends just built their retirement home and put a pantry in a corner as yours would go. If you leave one set of cupboards so you have a place to set things coming out of the 'fridge then theirs is essentially a closet door right there. It's a walk in. You don't have that much room but using the corner for open shelving behind a door is a good use of space.

Unfortunately, there is no good place for a pantry in your kitchen. Moving it to the left of the refrigerator just trades one awkward position for another. I would have to let go of the idea of having a pantry cabinet in this kitchen.

Perhaps you have another space to fit one. Maybe in a laundry room?

Is that not a pantry next to the range? Maybe a smaller fridge then it might work with a true pullout pantry .

You can use the IKEA Kitchen Planner to design and visualize a kitchen. You enter the dimensions of the room and then add/subtract cabinets, drawers, doors and other products to build the kitchen. You can display the kitchen in 2D or 3D. IKEA offers tall cabinets in 15", 17", 24", and 30" widths with 14" and 24" depths that you can use in your design.

I have the same question as Patricia regarding the cabinets left of the stove.

So, you are getting rid of the narrow pantry beside your range to add counter space? If you are gaining cabinetry above the current cabinets, perhaps it will free up space used to store less used items in the base cabinets and your island. What will be in your island cabinets? Are you putting a microwave drawer there? Perhaps the island could be your pantry space. Of course…as you empty your kitchen to get ready for the renovation…do discard things you are NOT using. Including expired spices, items that got lost “in the back”, as well as pots, pans, servewear that you do not use or rarely use.

You can put a pantry to the left of the ref. Several picture shown previously. It does make the corner counter and upper cabinet area awkward to get to. Instead of doing a 24" pantry - maybe just do an 18" w so it makes the corner easier to use? Or you could move the ref to the left 15" and do a pantry on the end facing the adjacent direct. A 15" deep pantry is great for everything since it is not too deep but its deep enough for everything.

12" for the side access pantry is more than adequate. It'll also save you a large chunk of money. No expensive pull-outs.

By the time you raise the cabinets to the ceiling and swap out the base cabinets for drawers you won’t miss the pantry. The shallow pantry is a good option.

You could do a 12" shallow pantry; turned on it's side, on the right side of the refrigerator.

There are a couple of places to put a pantry. they come in all widths and depths. The question really should be - Do you NEED a pantry? If you do then pick one of the options; if not then enjoy the additional countertop and better functioning stove area.

Either way, it needs to be about what you need in your kitchen. The space will dictate the size.

Oh, sorry, saw Debbi commented already on the side pantry. But I also agree with Debbi in the fact, that you don't NEED a pantry. If that were my kitchen? I would not do it.

I would SKIP the pantry AND the "black stainless" . Regular stainless will far outlast that finish. Lower cabinetry? Think drawers.....not doors. Not even with a pullout shelf. It just wastes valuable inches.

i would spit on the trends and make a corner pantry in the .. corner. Then refrigerator, then side pantry - as on one of the pictures above, posted by Kitchen Place, just to utilize that option too.
