Well, if you are finding marble problematic, you are replacing the entire shower, not just the pan. So get ready to gut the whole thing and choose a much easier care porcelain lookalike.

Bardiglio and Statuario are beautiful marbles and I don’t think you need another material in your bathroom. I would keep the shower pan simple with 2”x2” squares (no slipping) in one of the marbles. You may want to match your niche marble if you’re doing a niche. We have had Calcutta gold for 10 years and had no problems.

irs a new bath. i was going to do bardiglio on the floor through out including the pan but i started reading about problems with marble on the pan. is porcelain or ceramic a better option and does it go with the marble on the walls?

I don't think marble is "problematic," you just have to understand how it ages and make an informed decision on whether that works for you.
