@ksmetamaid A new discovery for me since you posted question - Black Forest Cake Heuchera. It has more purple tones in leaf than Obsidian but most important is the color of it’s flowers. They are bright fucshia pink & long lasting. Makes the entire plant stand out. I’ve replaced several of my front yard Obsidian with this plant. I also like Midnight Rose with its pink splotches on dark leaf but it isn’t as sturdy / hardy for me.

Thank you, KW PNW Z8. I'll definitely look into Black Forest Cake. I'd sort of settled on WildBerry, which I'd read were okay with part sun, and that may be a better description of what I've got, but I wasn't so sure they were the right choice. Thanks for this suggestions.

@ksmetamaid I have several WildBerry too. They’re much more purple. They would be a great look for a contrast to either Black Forest Cake or Obsidian in a grouping. WildBerry has pink flowers too but not as bright as BFC & doesn’t have the great contrast with leaf color.

@ksmetamaid Just now taking some end of season pics of my new front yard installed this July. Here’s a BFC with some flowers still hanging on. I wish I’d known about this one when all the Obsidian were planted. Obsidian has very small cream flowers - nothing to write home about. This BFC really catches the eye when in bloom. This one has been in ground since Sept. & the first flowers on it were much taller. The Heuchera behind it that’s closest to tree trunk is a Midnight Rose. - you can see some of the pink splotches if you enlarge the pic,

Great suggestions from KW! Here are some more coral bells that can take full sun. The caramel variety has golden leaves on top and dramatic pink/purple underneath. The marmalade and rio varieties have similar coloring, but very different leaf shape and texture. I planted all three this summer, and they’ve been very easy to care for.

@Little Bird I’m startled at the price of your coral bells. I was feeling the pain that locally our usual price is up to $15.99 from $12. for a 1 gal pot. It feels terrible because coral bells are easy to propagate but when you’re putting in a front yard visible planting we want full grown larger plants instead of the small transplants we’re making from our established plants. I do love that Marmalade - it’s really coloring up for fall,. I have some in a porch planter too.

Oh, I know! Those prices are insane. I usually go to this fancy little garden shop to browse for ideas, but you definitely have to go to the big landscape center if you’re buying more than 1 plant.
