Storage Cabinets for Two STR Bathrooms

last modified: 2 years ago

After shopping for the past four months for the STR we purchased next door, I am shopped out. In a few short weeks the remodel will begin. Both bathrooms will get 4/5ths of a gutting (new flooring throughout house, light fixtures, mirrors, plumbing fixtures, etc). I do not plan on replacing the linen cabinets in the bathrooms (moving to laundry room to use as pantries), but want something to hold towels and anything else guests want to store/access.

Yesterday I saw this in the restroom at our local Sweet Frog (I always get the Dole Whip.)

It was obviously painted. I took a photo of tag on the back. That yielded nothing in a search, but an image search came up with this on Chairish (also sold on eBay). $399, Ft Lauderdale, FL p/u only. Even if closer, I would not pay that much.

I like that it is rattan and no glass. Can be taller. Replacing cabinets that are 24" and 36" wide. 24" is still okay as a max, and other no more than 32". Would rather they be white or natural rattan, but light to medium.

If anyone sees anything similar online, please comment with a link. TIA

No products to recommend but LOVE the cabinet, either painted or original. Cannot wait to see what you do!

Is being open to the air a requirement?

Are you close enough to Foley to check out Malouf Furniture? They have an outlet section that might have something. https://www.malouffurniture.com/store/foley

Butler Finey $809. It looks like real wood.

This rattan cabinet is only $99, but looks like particle board.

Prices on popular "cute" cabinets are kind of pricey. $399 looks like a deal!

What are the details for the Chairish?

I usually bid 60% or less on Chairish items, and have had really good success with that. I used to feel intimidated by their pre-calculated bidding suggestions (I think they only show 20% off or something like that) but now I only make "low" bids.

The shipping from FtL to the panhandle might not be as much as you think, either. Esp if you are not in a rush, there are options.

Plus if you are willing to spend x, how much more would this be? I get it, it is silly to overspend on a STR, but you may be able to score a bargain.

Or make a long weekend out of it, book a fun stay in FtL. DH and I did that a few times when we wanted something in driving distance.

I have had good luck finding rattan/bamboo furnishings at consignment shops.

This is new, no charge for shipping (FedEx). Smaller than what you pictured.

Open to the air is not a requirement but i did not want glass in the bathrooms and if renters can see they don't have to hunt. only thing inside will be extra tiwrks and bedding. It will be just inside both bathrooms,

Foley is not close and not on my way to vidit fdmily. There are antique stores and charity shops nearby i just have not found the I'll know it when i see it pieces yet... until i saw the white one.

The Ft Lauderdale piece is pick up only, and it is a long trip. Plus DH cannot go anywhere currently.

When i compare the price to the vintsge Thomasville faux bamboo dresser i snagged for $200+ it seem high. LOL

Our internet is out (line cut) so i cannot look up the description on Chairish easily. It was "Asian style cabinet" and not much else.

Thanks, everyone. Maybe I will go to a few places tomorrow. Not in a huge rush, as I don't need for about eight weeks.

Allison, I’m excited about your project! I hope you can share a few peeks of it with us. :)

(I wish we could share images in PMs.)

Thanks, Jilly. One of the first things I purchased was a pair of vintage rattan chairs. barrel-like with decent seat and small back cushions i ordered indoor/outdoor fsbric and had thrm recovered. I see vintage rattan pieces for sale locally but mostly glass top end tables and bookcases.

Our new management company said many renters are now asking for houses with character instead of all white, or white and gray everything.

Can't wait to see Allison! I love vintage rattan chairs. : )

I found a three tiered, deep slanted shelf? table? yesterday for the hallway bathroom. Heavy and sturdy, $49. The vanity is dark blue and the MBath is white. Now I am thinking a non-glass shelf bamboo piece for it. Saw several at three antique stores, but any that would work were marked NFS. I have a knack for liking things not for sale. LOL Anyway, this cleaned up nicely with a Magic Eraser. Housekeeping can put towels below. I'll probably put a large tray on top. Our lower level den has become a storage room.

Here are the bamboo chairs (blue and pink pillows not included). I saw them, didn't buy since we had not closed yet. Mentioned them to DH, and he asked why not?! So I called to purchase.

Cushions are now covered in this fabric. Sitting is more comfortable with an additional pillow, so I added 14x22 lumbar pillows.

Great finds, Allison! I’m drooling over the chairs and fabric.

“I have a knack for liking things not for sale.”

That always happens to me, too. :D
