If you have Apple products, the usually pre-installed Photos app is easy to use. The steps are simple to make albums. Sort and organize on the Mac or iPad, the albums are easy to find and view on my iPhone when out and about.

I use Faststone Image Viewer, and I believe there is a free version, but I paid $20 for a lifetime subscription.

I used to use ACDC, but I now like Faststone better. I had a free copy of ACDC that came with the first scanner, which I bought around 1995, I think, or maybe a couple of years later. It is now much more expensive than Faststone, and Faststone does pretty much all that I want, including file conversions, but it does not have a search function, and so I use Windows Explorer for that.

I store all of my photos on Dropbox so that I can access them from all of my devices and at any location.
