Ranch home island help

We are renovating our kitchen island and replacing with new cabinetry. My surrounding

cabinets are painted seagull gray milk paint with brushed gold hardware. The countertops will be white quartz. I can't decide what color cabinets for the kitchen island. Do I do the classic white- or do I do the trendy truflle brown wood color?

Is the dark blue still an option?

I would not pick the wood cabinet in the stain color shown in the photo because I do not think it looks good next to your pretty wood floors. Another wood color would be an option though.

I would do everything white unless you can add more lighting. Your kitchen seems a little dark. But, if you are adding more can lights and a couple pendant lights over the island, then I think the dark blue would look nice!

The dark blue looked too dark (prob because of lighting like you said) but yes i love that color too. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

I'd find a wood that looks good with the tone of your floor. It will help the island blend into the floor a bit and make the kitchen feel slightly less chopped up.

(My husband just glanced over my shoulder and said "Nice kitchen." I have never heard him say anything nice about something posted on Houzz!)

I think you need to decide the lighting first since it has ahuge effect on color. Not sure why milk paint on any kitchen cabinet since IMO not a good choice for a well used space. But now I think I would not do a 2 tone kitchen unless that island is done to exactly match the floors . Definately not that truffle color . I actually liked the white cabinets with the blue island

Milk paint because I did them myself and it was the easiest at the time with two young kids. Lighting will more than likely stay the same- maybe a few more can lights, but are waiting budget wise on pendant lights.

The truffle door does not look good with your floors. Find a different wood stain or another color.

So the perimeter cabinets are staying as is and only the island will get new cabinets?

It was confusing because the rendering of the fridge wall looked a little different then the existing.

If the perimeter is a grey color, then I would not do the white island. I think the island being brand new white cabinets will look like you painted the island white, but still need to finish painting the rest of the perimeter cabs. I think the dark blue would go nice with the light grey cabinets.

The white quartz will really brighten things up. And, after some lighting gets added above the island, I think the dark blue will be fine.

It will look so much better once the posts and stuff above the island is gone. The island being all one level will be wonderful!

You will definitely need to add lighting above the island. Maybe add the puck lights for now, but just space them out as if you were hanging the pendants you think you might get later?

If it were me, I would just bite the bullet and do the pendants now. I am sure there are some nice looking inexpensive pendants you could find. Steal the money from somewhere else? Maybe you can find a quartz that is less expensive then you had planned to spend?

Some brushed gold pendants to match your cabinet pulls would look so good! 😍

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Yes in the rendering they put new cabinets on the perimeter but we wont be doing those. The layout will be the same though and yes the perimeter will stay gray. The blue color i painted is BM hail navy, maybe youre right about the lighting.

Also please send any ideas for pendants that would look good with this setup! I like the farmhouse look. Here is the dining area that will be next to the island.
