Need advice on alternatives to downdraft

Need to replace 2nd downdraft slide-in range within ten years. No longer want downdraft (freezes in Canadian winter; ineffective, noisy) - Local contractors won't touch it - need advice on how to remove downdraft fan within floor & seal vent - so can slide in new non-downdraft range.

Considering new slide-in electric range/oven without venting hood as appliance positioned beneath window.

Will not be renovating rest of kitchen - flooring new '23.

I can’t help you with sealing the vent, but you will need another range hood. Because of the odd placement of the range in front of the window, that might be a challenge. Can you take an image from farther back so we can see the ceiling?

Your best bet might be building out your soffit a litle more and going for a ceiling mount like this. I have no idea how effective they are or whether you will need make up air, but this one is sold in Canada 🇨🇦

If you look at page 14 of the Installation Guide, you'll see that the blower is attached to the floor beneath the range. Starting at page 20, I think you would follow the steps in reverse to pull out the range, disconnect the blower wiring, de-install the blower, and disconnect the range from the house wiring. You could then detach the blower from the floor.

Absent a hood, I'd consider an induction range rather than a radiant range like you have. Top-performing models in CR's tests include the LG Studio LSIS6338FE, Frigidaire Gallery GCFI3060BF, GE Profile PHS93XYPFS.
