For the "dead space" in the corner, remove the floating shelves and put some art on the wall.

Then move the gray chair into that corner, add a lamp, and then you have a reading nook.

If you need the chair to move out of the reading nook when you have guests, you just drag it over.

If you want storage in the "dead space" in the corner, then just get something that looks nice. But still take down the floating shelves and put some art on the wall (those shelves are not attractive),

You could also try moving the sectional so that the back of the section is to the door. Just put a sofa table behind it, and it will look like it is supposed to.

You definitely have a room where two sofas, or a sofa and loveseat, would be better than a sectional. With a sofa and loveseat, you could put them facing each other with the loveseat on the entrance side, but pulled down a bit to direct traffic into the seating area.

But I would guess that you want to keep the sectional because you already have it.

swap the brown swivel chairs with the sectional... put a sofa table behind the sectional if you don't like to see the backside as you enter from the front door. Your exterior view is lovely, and together with the fireplace is your focal point.

I would remove the floating shelves (they appear too high) and replace with a tall armoire piece of furniture.

Remove the shelves then options open up . We do need answers to the questions though.

The sectional’s location will drive all the decisions. Suggest its back facing front door with a fairly large console behind, which will feel inviting into your lovely room.

Test the set of chairs at window and also on each side of fireplace. You’ll have to play around with the single chair.

The space under the shelving has to be addressed. If a chair is in front, just add large pottery on floor and if no chair, add furniture. I’d remove the upper right shelf, but consider more substantial shelves or art.

The coffee table’s shape and size is dependant on how much access and functionality you want and given decor choices, a natural fibre rug would be a nice fit. Wait to purchase until everything is in place so you have a better sense size wise.

If you place the bench for the dining table against the wall, can you move table closer and the sofa back a bit....a bit more space in the living room?

If you switch the sofa as mentioned, the two rounded chairs will face the entry. You wouldn't need the gray chair in the corner...can you move the gray chair out of the room?
