I disagree with Zumi - I think the floating stone vanity looks interesting. I am actually having one made out of Calacatta marble for my powder room.

I agree - changing the wall color will dramatically improve your room! Let's see if we are able to capture the attention of some pros (and extremely talented non-pros) for help in the morning (well, later this morning - it's 1 a.m. for me!)

I like your stone floating vanity even more now that I've seen a photo from in front of it. I don't know why you received the initial comment that you did about it. I believe that you will receive some positive feedback + ideas of specific paint colors to use on your walls.

Does the stone have a similar color in it that matches the flooring that you've installed? It's always difficult to tell the exact colors on a monitor (my monitor may show them differently than they look in person). Maybe add one more photo - a close up showing the veining running through your stone slab.

It appears that this a half bath/powder room - you can use a more dramatic color on the walls than if it was a larger bathroom.

I'd offer some suggestions, but I don't know the specific names of the paint colors from Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore in order to point you in the right direction.

I would go with something warm.

Celery - I was hoping that you'd see this post and add a few photos! I knew that the walls needed a warm color - my initial thought was something just like the lighter one in your second photo. However, I"ve read many posts on here about taking a chance with something more dramatic in a powder room - so, I was wondering what a darker color would look like with the stone slab.

Atash - do you like the lighter or the darker warm color walls that Celery made for you? Your vanity is beautiful - I knew that the cool paint was fighting with the warm tones in the stone. There are others on here who will be able to suggest specific paint colors for you to try samples of on your walls. I can tell when something works/doesn't work - but I just am not familiar with the actual paint colors in order to suggest a few specific ones for you to try out.

Question for you - I like the size of side/backsplash that you used around the alcove walls - is it 2" tall?

I really like the darker, more dramatic paint colour! The flooring is a light warm beige. But unfortunately I can’t capture the real colour in pictures.

My first impression is that this is a bathroom in a submarine with gray metal walls and a porthole.

The problems I see:

- You need artwork, linens, throw rug, trash can -- all the accessories expected in a bathroom. Part of the problem is the emptiness, but you'll take care of that when you "move into" the room.

- The vanity is bossy /loud -- it draws in the eye /to the detriment of the other items in the room. I'd like to see some pattern /texture elsewhere in the room, but this vanity is "taking up all the visual space".

- The walls and the vanity aren't friends. A darker, warmer color would blend in with the vanity better.

- The vanity has NO drawers? Perhaps you could add a medicine cabinet at each end -- otherwise, you'll have clutter on the vanity top.

- The mirror is too small for the wall area -- I'd choose a large model that allows for artwork on the front instead of a mirror. A single large mirror wall-to-wall would work better in the space, but then you'd be creating a view of yourself sitting on the toilet.

- Sconces or pendants are expected next to the mirror. I see you have other forms of lighting, but the space where these expected items should be appears empty.

Great finishes on the wall behind the toilet and on the vanity. You just have the wrong paint color on the walls. An easy fix. I do like the darker color that Celery put up. Something dark and warm on these walls.

I'm curious about the temperature of your lighting too. It looks really cool, though it could just be the paint color that is making it look that way. Is there a way to change the color temp coming from behind your mirror?

I think it’s a beautiful vanity! Love that stone. I also like the darker color Celery has shown. Wondering, Celery, if you could mock up the same color on the pic showing the toilet wall finish. 🤞🏼 hope it works there as well. Atash, can you show a better picture of the floor?

I will post a picture of my own bathroom where the colour of the floor is very close to reality! The powder room is where I think needs improvement!

I am showing these photos just as examples of more dramatic colors with floating stone vanities - obviously, the color you select for the walls would need to work with your particular slab of stone:

You could add some texture to the walls with wallpaper - however, after stripping the wallpaper in my powder room, I don't know if I will ever add wallpaper again! Even if you don't want to add texture with wallpaper (as in the above photo + the one below) - the photos show how a more "moody" bathroom would look.

Sometimes people will paint the ceiling of a powder room the darker color also.

Atash - Happy to post photos - hope that they help a bit. I have SO MANY photos saved of bathrooms with floating stone vanities! I decided a couple years ago to have a floating stone vanity fabricated for my powder room - so, I've been collecting all different types of stone/colors + ones with sconces or pendants (the pendants are different than you typically see in a bathroom - they are interesting (an example is in my third photo posted in my previous comment).

If this is a powder room, storage isn't that important - you could always add some baskets below your floating vanity if you need some storage. I've seen larger baskets that have been set directly on the floor under the vanity + some people have added a low wooden shelf underneath their floating vanity in order to place baskets on top of it for storage.

I think that this will look amazing when you're finished! You have to promise to post photos once you've finished your project! :)
