Suggestions for loop carpet for bedrooms

Has anyone recently had loop carpet installed in their bedrooms and/or have any recommendations?

I like Anderson Tuftex Purrfection but was quoted $7500 for 1000 square feet. Should I splurge on this good carpet or does it matter?

I am NOT interested in wood in the bedrooms. Thanks

Honestly, none of these are a great value, and I understand you don't want to hear that.

Seams, pad, waste, all factor in but purely on your numbers is 7500.00 for 111 sq yard. or 67.50 per yard installed. ( round numbers )

Truthfully, a real wood floor at double that number, over years is the far better value. Area rugs, even inexpensive, can easily be cleaned or switched.. That wood floor is....... a forever floor.

Yes, I realize, not what you asked. But?

Bedroom carpet takes a beating from bare feet, soil attracted to the oils left behind. More frequent cleaning is required, and still the matting and traffic patter is likely. ......no matter the brand>

This price seems a bit high, installed, for what it is, but it depends on the seaming and shape of the room and so forth.

But the obvious soiling, traffic patterns/matting/wear have not been my personal experience.

Previously I had light colored loop carpet in two bedrooms and when we moved out about four years later, yes, you could see a difference between where the carpet had never had human contact where it was under furniture and where it was exposed. But no paths worn into it by obvious wear or dirt/oils.

Currently we have wool velvet cut woven (not tufted) broadloom in both bedrooms, about 7-8 years in one and a year less in the other. Light pearl grey in the older one.

It is NOT installed, it is room size bound, but about six inches from the wall. No obvious soiling or wear patterns even near the door. Does it look different than the untouched areas completely concealed by furniture? Yes.

But I can also roll the carpet back and look underneath. Is there the obvious staining on the backing, and dust and dirt that has filtered down through the carpet and pad being ground into the floor? No, not at all. The floor underneath is clean.

However, we do Not wear shoes upstairs in the house ever. If we forget something and have to run back upstairs--we still take them off. We may walk on it in bare feet in the middle of the night but really other than that we wear socks.

We vacuum it every day. Both bedrooms and the carpeted steps every day. No, we are not people who have no life. Yes, we are both employed. I have a full time job and a part time job. I get home after 8 o'clock several nights a week. But if vacuuming it all take 15 minutes tops, I would be surprised.

Most people won't do this, but really it's not a foregone conclusion that your carpet is going to look dirty and worn in short order, it just depends on how much effort you want to put into it. And I have found that it's not all that much. If you are one of those people who has a cleaning service come in for a couple hours every two weeks and bang around a vacuum cleaner and a Swiffer whether your house needs it or not, and you don't really do anything yourself in between , your carpet is going to look like Jan says.

Yes... have to agree as to just above: ) People DO begin with the very best of intentions , as with all things brand new. But alas....the novelty of newness wears off rather quickly.

wall to wall carpet is just plain gross after awhile and is in my experience a total turn off for buyers so still think a hard surface floor with a rug or 2 smaller rugs on either side of the bed . It also makes cleaning easier I am a total nut about cleaning and have to admit even I do not vacuum every single day so I guess you actaully do what you want and sorry not going to get much help here . Kids rooms get dirty and barefeet are the worst thing for carpets

Just for completion I pulled back the carpet that has been in place since 2017. This is right inside the door. This does not look gross to me. This has never been cleaned underneath. There is a little bit of dust under the bottom left edge right next to the door.

I would probably not do carpet in a kids room, or I would plan on cleaning it periodically, but in a master bedroom you should be fine
