Can you turn the sofa so that the one side faces the FP but the other side faces that wall? Then I would go looking for a fabulous huge piece of art on that wall or even a mural from a good p;ace that does them custom to fit the wall. maybe something like this Then use the colors from tay fpr accents

To each his own, I personally have never understood the love of abstract art. If I am going to spend my money on art it will be of something that I can recognize. Love my wildlife art and botanicals and florals.

Art should be in your home! You should love it. Art is personal. Don’t spend money on art that doesn’t make you happy! I’m an artist and I want every piece I would sell to go to a good home and make the space special for the people in it. Style of art doesn’t need to match the decor, just the person who owns it. Go out and enjoy looking for something you love.

Can the rug be moved a bit closer to the fireplace wall? That plus something on the widened rug area at the far end of the sectional (floor lamp and plant here, could be end table with table lamp) would reduce the sense of too much empty space between the sectional and the door. Also, the fireplace wall looms rather oppressively dark to me. Maybe add another piece of light-matted art above the fireplace to lighten that wall, making it background to the art rather than empty foreground? (I did lower the TV a bit, don't know if that's possible. And I'm late chiming in, I know; took a while to figure out what I liked!)
