Which hardwood floor??

We are trying to replace our existing tile with engineering hardwood throughout the house including the kitchen. We looked at lot of samples but kept going back to Green world industries products because of the color. We like their Artisan and American collection.

The Artisan line currently is offered with a UV oil finish (3mm wear layer) and American collection is with AO finish (5mm wear layer). The rep said that the Artisan line is being discontinued and will be replaced with AO finish in the next 6 months.

I love the Artisan line and wanted to see if anyone has used that collection from green world industries to see how the floors are. Not sure if it is a gamble to buy a discontinued product.

Any thoughts or feedback? We have never had hardwood floors and we also have a dog. Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

Be sure if you go with the discontinued product that you buy enough extra to cover a good sized area in case of a leak in the kitchen. otherwise you won’t be able to find any to make repairs and might be forced to replace the flooring in all adjacent areas

IMO if that is being discontiued why would you chance it plus the fact that the wear layer is less . Makes no sense to me.

I laid some of this for a customer years ago and she was quite happy.

The oil finish won't be as water resistant as the AO, but it's still pretty decent in that regard and does have some advantages. Theoretically it can be refreshed more easily. I haven't seem that pan out in the real world but often it's because my clients didn't beat it up, or maybe they did and never called me back.

The product that's being dropped might come at an attractive price. As long as it's not too textured on the surface, 3mm of veneer provides enough to refinish once. It's also possible that the new product won't look the one you like. GreenWorld wasn't a regular supplier and I have a recollection that dealing with them was a bit odd. I don't think they made their own products at that time, though maybe that has changed.
