decorating a LONG console table

last year

I know I’ve asked several times how to decorate this. Honestly I can’t find anything I love. I know I need tall things on either side. What’s there now will go. But I just got the long wood tray in the middle and filled it with the balls. Not sure I love it. Does anyone have any thoughts??? Thank you!

Yes…Tape your paper up with six 16x20 frames horizontally..I was looking at the square frames six of them would be nice to make a square..but they are a bit pricey..and can be more difficult to pick photos that work with square.

  • last year

Ok first I apologize. Second, you probably all are thrilled I’m not a client or friend because I’m crazy and I analyze everything! That’s why I still have nothing in my wall. Anyway, here are some more visuals. Thoughts?? Another option I saw online was a gallery wall of different sizes. Thank you again!!!

  • last year

Could you just humor me and only do 6 of the 16x20 frames hung horizonal and again vertical..🙏🏻

  • last year

    HIWE absolutely!!!!

  • last year

This is it! the proportions are so pleasing and your lamps don‘t look so lost..and it allows for a bit of layering of accessories in front without looking over cluttered..sometimes less is more..

  • last year

Ok HIWE humor me now…lol…these 6 are 16x20 and would still have an 11x14 photo. What do you think? And also, most frames come with white mats. Is that ok or should I look for off white?

  • last year

    Sorry. These are 16x24 frames!!

  • last year

Thats fine..16x24 16x20 they both work so have fun and get it done! can you get 16x24?

  • last year

I tried to do it better. Squares vs 16x20s

  • last year

I would think the big ones would be too big. They make the lamps look too small imo. Then if she gets a big picture over fireplace everything will be so big. No?

  • last year

I like the 16x20 frames 6 of them…you can always change out the mat..they carry them at Any craft store that sells frames..I just bought that size at Michaels yesterday…they iffer off white , grey, black and blue…I have not seen 16x24..I like the 16x20….most with photos like the white…

You can hang them just a bit higher over the console..hiw much did you allow in the photo?…you can go around 10”

  • last year

I didn’t exactly measure that. Or how much space between photos

  • last year

I looks pretty good I like around 2-2.5” between them and around 10” above console.

  • last year

Now to choose only 6 photos. Will be hard, especially since my dog died.

  • last year

Pop a cute pic of your dog in a nice picture frame to set on an end table or on the console….believe me you will be changing them out from time to time..as your family changes…new memories.

    So cute

Been super crazy day which seems to be my life right now. Here is look I like best the shapes repeat the basic shape of your lamp shades and the console making a very cohesive arrangement. I would arrange gap between top and lower row so gap looks right with lamps decorative black shapes.

I think you have the arrangement and space above console just about right. I think it will be easy for family and guests to view and feel quite relaxed. Go for it.

I am going to strongly disagree….way to many frames..way too long..lamps look forced in…eye needs a place to rest and it allows for accessories without looking over loaded…up to you of course..have fun and enjoy your home.

One last question…about the art over my fireplace. I found more Amalfi Coast photos that are less saturated and I’m wondering if these might be better. I can do either 44x44 or 40x50 if still not great, I’ll forget the whole Italy thing and look at abstracts. Thank you!

  • last year

HIWE humor me please…thoughts on this?? Canvassing middle…

  • last year

Canvas IN middle…anyone else care to weigh in? Thanks! I love this family photo and I hate not being able to use it

  • last year

I have no idea how these amalfi coast pix posted…

  • last year

Amy I could live with that…You hate to not use the family canvas..and hang everything a bit higher…measure from floor to middle of collage for me?

  • last year

57” from the floor to the middle of the canvas. I think that’s what you asked, right? It’s really the only family photo I like. I could make into the 11x17 photo if you think that would be better

I would rather see 6 frames..yes make it into 11x14 to be incorporated into the 6 frames…ok I think for the proportions to look right with the lamps..I would hang everything 10” from top of console.

  • last year

So finally gonna hang the frames. I did get 8 cause I thought I’d have more pix but 2 came in blurry. So either I do 6 or keep 8 and order 2 more. I finally decided on the 8. Now I’m rereading these comments and don’t know.

Also, not finding any abstract for over fireplace I love. Don’t someone say to pick something you love to look at? That would be the Amalfi Coast. I could look at it all day. So shouldn’t I do that? This is the one I’d use I think.

  • last year

Amy would not be my choice for your space….but if it is only thing you want..I would matte it and frame it..so that there is some solid space between the photo and brick fireplace...

Well done! The console, lamps and pictures look very, very good. (And level….😊)

    Looks great!

That’s very hard to get just right. Nice job. You need something on the console under the photos. Something long and kind of low. Maybe a metal narrow tray to pick up metal door hardware look. Simple lines. Maybe a hammered copper piece?

The coast line picture is cool but are you sure it’s right for that wall. While I agree and have suggested finding art you love, it has to relate to your room in someway as well. Keep looking.

  • last year

Flo Mangan the door pulls on the console are not metal. They’re wood. ???

  • last year

As I was hanging the photos today I wondered why I didn’t think about making the Amalfi coast picture a large photo (like 24x36) and frame it like these family photos, put it in the middle and flank with 2 or 4 of these photos on the side. Would anyone have liked that idea??? Can you all tell I NEED that photo someplace focal???

  • last year

Amy - I understand getting a “crush” on a piece of art. Would the Amalfi coast look good over your bed? It feels calming to me.

It would also work in a well lit entryway.

Here is a mock up with the art you chose. I added tall sconces that you just hang and add battery operated faux candles. I hav a set of these for beside our TV. VERY NICE ADDITION. Painting should be between 4-6” above mantel.

  • last year

Family photos came together! hope you are enjoying them!🥰 I really don't mind the italian coast it just needs to be matted and framed not a canvas…. you love it so go for it!

  • last year

HIWE I tried everything to make it big enough …pixels weren’t good. So I couldn’t even do it if I tried.

  • last year

So you are now searching for art art?

  • last year

    Few ideas?

  • last year

HIWE I posted what I bought above.

  • last year

Thoughts on these for the mantel???
