IMO a stacking W/D is amust in that space it look slike you have a door with aglass insert so lots of light from that. Do you need the door ? I need more info and some idea of how this space connects to the rest of the house . How deep are those cabinets ? maybe the W/D can be moved to use some of that space . I need more info please and also is this a rental or do yu own the house .

We were thinking about stacked washer and dryer, but we have been leaning more towards the 2 in 1 washer and dryer combo. That leads to our driveway and backyard so we are unable to remove it at this time. The other door in the room is connected to our kitchen and there is a small step. Our kitchen is very small and limited to storage, which is why I would like to use it utilize the cabinet as a pantry and kitchen storage. One of the cabinets is the water heater so we can't put anything in there. The other cab would possibly be deep enough for washer and dryer, but we can't afford to move the piping at this time. We hope to expand our home in a couple years because we just became a family of five and we live in a 900 square foot home. We own the home. The window on the wall faces the front of the house and is close to a sidewalk.

This space definitely needs some cosmetic work. It had old wall paper around the top of the walls. I haven't finished removing it. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. We also want to paint the walls but I'm unsure of a color. My house walls are all white some I was wondering if I should make this area pop more. This at is out 'side' entrance but it's also the main door most people walk in from since it's closer to the driveway and street parking. It's also the door we use to go to the backyard. We definitely need a heavy duty mat that will catch most of the dirt because our kitchen is next door and the floors get dirty quickly. Since the laundry room currently has concrete floors I was thinking of using epoxy to just touch it up and make it look new, or using peel and stick flooring from Lowe's. My only concern about the floors and the peeling stick is that the concrete does rise up against the walls about 23 inches and it's not smooth out so I'm not sure what I would do with that. If I can epoxy it with the floor. My other concern is the street window. It does not open. We get most of the light from this large window. It does have framing that I will paint as well as the walls. I want to get some kind of window treatment to cover the window, but I'm not sure if I should cover the framing as well. Our current washer and dryer will possibly be replaced by a two in one combo washer and dryer to provide a little more space and three kids. I forget to transfer clothes all the time. Would appreciate any feedback on color schemes what your thoughts are on the flooring and window treatments. Also wondering if I should change my ceiling light. I am also willing to paint my cabinet doors. I don't know why this is so difficult for me to pick even after looking at so many ideas online. It's just so hard for me to decide and I would love other peoples thoughts and ideas on my specific area. So much appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, the curtains look best if they are the same fabric on window and door. I would get an interior mount curtain rod (probably one tension rod) for the window so the nice window trim can be seen. There's less fabric flopping around and collecting lint. The curtain should end at the window sill (an inch or half inch above it is fine).

With a family of five, before you buy a combo washer dryer, check to see how much time it takes to do ONE load of laundry. I have heard the wash function is not bad, but they take a very long time to dry.

I would suggest, you rethink stackable washer and dryer. It takes a long time, for a combo unit to wash and dry a load of clothes, and they generally only do much smaller loads too. With 3 kids, you need one that can get more laundry done at a time. I am not fond of stackable either, but, I think, for your situation there, stackable would be the best way to go.

A combo can do only one load at a time. You can’t throw a load in the dryer and start another wash load.

A stackable would block the window, which is too bad.

Do you live where there is snow, rain, etc. You will need a landing zone for purse, jackets, shoes?

I love ApplePie’s laundry room and especially floor! You really need to figure out how to handle the curve where the floor meets the wall, and the roughness will affect how the peel-and-stick tile adheres.

Wait until the washer or dryer breaks, then decide what kind of replacement. There's no point in replacing good old machines with less sturdy new ones until you have to. IME, the combination machines are small and good for one person who is not in a rush. I used a couple combo machines in Japanese hotels that left annoying detergent spots dried on clothes.

With kids, if you can get in the habit of checking the washer before bedtime and before breakfast for forgotten loads ready for the dryer, you can start up the dryer then. It's a handy habit when you can't always run immediately to the laundry when it dings at you.

I think a white wall will make this a bright space. When replacing the cabinet next to the window, I would consider a pair of tall cabinets either side of the window, or a pair of high set cabinets for laundry items with a narrower lift opening shelf beneath (a door that lifts open might be a better description) for those small things that need a spot. A simple Roman blind in bright colors set within the frame would keep it simple. Linoleum could provide a hard working yet decorative floor.

Sheet vinyl may work well on the concrete floor if the floor stays very dry in all weather. It can be run up the wall by a pro who would install coving, or put on a separate sheet vinyl piece mounted on the wall with painted-to-match shoe molding at the corner where the wall and floor meet.
