Your laundry room is close to the size of mine. A word of advice about stacking -- make sure you will like this set-up before you invest in new machines (you can't stack what you currently have). I am 5'5" tall, and a stacked set of conventional machines won't work for me, I'm too short to comfortably reach the controls near the top. Worse, you can't put a stacked set on a pedestal and bending down close to floor level to get heavy, wet clothes out of the washer only gets harder the older you get. Of course, this is going to vary with model, some will have the tub higher off the ground and different control set-ups, but IMO you definitely should think about this.

I purchased compact machines (Miele), put them both on pedestals -- easy to reach everything, no bending required, there is storage beneath within the pedestal drawers, and I can put a countertop over the top and still comfortably reach the back of the counter because the machines aren't too tall (haven't done that yet, but that's the plan). Because they're smaller machines I still have room for the sink, and I'll tell you that size switch made a big difference in that room. (And no compact doesn't mean you can't stuff a decent amount in there.)

I note that your current storage is very shallow. You could have a lot more storage space --- and more accessible space by replacing the cabinets with deeper one or shelves that are deeper.
