More info needed. Will the basement become a tv room, a bedroom, or something else? What would you put in a basement closet? Clothes that you might want again in a few years? Christmas decor?

IMO all basements need storage and this would be aperfect spot maybe? We need a to scale plan of the whole basement including this space . What do you need in the basement ? Show where the stairs are and any plumbing thta is in already . Do the plan on grph paper it makes it easier to do scaled planns. The post herein jpeg format in a comment DO NOT START another post

New picture added for additional perspective of the layout. The basement is already partially finished. Our goal is to add a modern laundry room and just increase tne usable space without looking like a long narrow hallway. Just outside of this closet area will be an open rec area that will be a continuation from the current finished area. One side of the closet will be adjacent to the HVAC room. We could add a larger closet here that comes out into the room more but then what do we do on the other side so as not to cover the window?

Thanks for you reply. Its difficult to explain but i'll try and add a few more photos. As you can see in the photos, that pocket door goes from the finished area to the semi-finished area (the area that is the focus of my question). if you look at the picture of the semi-finished area, the storage room that will be the 'bedroom' is just pass the weights on the right. We don't really 'need' the bedroom, we're just calling it that. In reality we're going to use it as a home gym. There is a full bath in the basement but it is on the other side of the basement, nothing I can do about that since the original owners did this.

The closet that I was asking about is all along the left wall of that room. The idea for removing it is so that when we remove the wall from the finished to the semi-finished space it will be more open and not so narrow. Was just thinking a wet bar because it would be nice to have one in the basement for entertaining and to have the fridge for when the kids are in the basement. Maybe there's a better place for it?

As far as the laundry room goes, it is currently on the other side of the wall from the bathroom. Its so tight that the doors to the washer and dryer don't even open all of the way.

Use it for closet and storage space. No need for a wet bar in that area.
