Help with paint colors!

Hi, we are finishing our attic- adding a bathroom, and sitting area with a built in bar cabinet. I have used BM Classic gray in my foyer and I like how neutral and soft it is. I was thinking of doing the same in the attic- it is a full walk-up with plenty of windows and a slider- what color should built-in bookcases and trim and built-in bar be? should they match or should bar be different? I thought about doing the bar in a darker accent color but I really don‘t want it to be trendy. I want it to be classic and simple so was thinking light but I find whites daunting! Also my house is not a ”white” house. I have BM Decorators White for trim in my kitchen with Edgecomb gray walls and Revere Pewter cabinets but not sure how white will look on all the built ins….Will it be too white or just right? And if so which white? Or should I do the bar in Classic Gray/same as walls and keep trim and built-ins white? (Cabinet maker will spray the bar off site) Any help is appreciated! I’ll attach inspiration pics and products already chosen for bath as well as sketched layout. And any ideas for paint color in bathroom? I was thinking BM iced cube silver (its a very soft almost neutral blue that I think works well with bianco carrara marble ) but not sure I want to bring in blue tones…

If you don't want to do the bar in a trendy color then white is a good choice. But I think charcoal or navy would also look good and I don't think they're really trendy. Choose a color that will make you happy. If you're going to have a rug in the room you could use the color there as well.

BM recommends Simply White to go with Classic Gray, but if you like Decorator's White next to it there's nothing wrong with that either. It's nice to have a consistent trim color throughout your house, but if the attic is different than the other floors I don't think that's a problem.

I would use Ice Cube Silver in the bathroom since you like it with the marble. The last bathroom I remodeled I used a pale green with Carrara marble. I think a little color makes the room more interesting.

Thanks so much kandrewspa! I appreciate the feedback- very helpful! I will consider a classic color for the bar and decide between that or white. and will check out BM Simply White for trim. Also glad to hear you ’ve used some color with Carrara marble- I’m excited and think it will look nice!

@kandrewspa if I do a painted vanity- which of these colors (if any) do you think works best with the carrara marble? `I need a minimum 48 in vanity so my original choice won’t work. obviously if I go with painted vanity, the wall color must be neutral.

Can you use any SW color or are these the two you have to choose from? Do you have a box of tile that you can look at next to paint color samples? It's difficult for anyone to see nuances in colors online. Here's a bathroom with Cararra marble where they used SW Grizzle Gray on the walls:

I would just do white. I think if you're going to use a color that is almost black you need to use black somewhere else to tie it in, like a black light fixture or mirror. Do a search on bathrooms with Cararra marble on the pictures in Houzz to see what others have done.

Ok good point. Thanks for the pictures! - I will take a look at some more inspiration pics. I am not limited to SW-I just had 2 cabinet color samples for the built in bar and was playing with them against the carrara tile samples. Helpful to see the pic with the dark walls- it works but it is pretty dark…I think lighter may be the way to go too. Thanks for the help!
