They should have a larger root system so that will help speed up their growth compared to when they were originally planted. Do not fertilize now. Just water and mulch. Prune further if needed in late winter. Hard prune if necessary due to damage. It will produce flower buds and blooms from new stem growth around mid-late spring or later.

Many times, in my ground freeze/freeze after the snow is gone winters, my stems are all dead by spring. Then I cut them very short to where they show green at the bottom. They put up new shoots, both from the old, cut off shoots and directly from the ground and in greater numbers than the year before. It just keeps getting larger every year. They're pretty hardy.
