Normal for flooring or am I being picky?

New floors and kitchen remodel. There are a few things that bother me, but not sure it’s worth it to bring up or if it’s just normal.

There is a small gap between the quarter round and the end of the new floor. I can see where it would be difficult to add another plank but this is bothering me. Do I let it go?
There is a corner where the quarter round just doesn’t seem to fit properly or wasn’t cut properly.

the kitchen island came in two pieces/cabinet sets. The first set arrived, then the flooring was installed around it. Then the second cabinet arrive. I have one set sitting on subfloor and one on the new floor. It’s level, but this just seems lazy. Does it actually matter though?

Would love advice from anyone that knows more than I do! Thanks

Floor moulding should be painted white to match the base. Not terrible and not worth having them redo in my opinion. it's wood and nothing is perfectly level or flat. The corner miter could be better and if he has other work to do you may want that redone. However were it white, a dab of painters caulk would make it go away.

That is your expansion gap. It's required so your floors do not buckle. Your quarter round should all be painted to match the base molding. It should not be wood. If this is a permanently installed flooring, aka glued or nailed down, then cabinets go on top. If this is a temporary flooring, aka floating, then the cabinets are never installed on top of it. They are always shimmed up to the height as though they were installed on it though. Then the flooring has expansion gap room that is covered by shoe molding. Shoe molding that matches the vertical surface. Not the horizontal surface.

Not a pro but the cuts on the molding in the corner you show look sloppy. The corners don't met up. Can they at least caulk it so there's not a space?

I mostly came here to say that the color of the shoe mold is a personal preference. Some people prefer it to be wood because they feel it expands the room slightly. Just so you don't feel like you must add "paint shoe mold" to your punch list.

Editing to add that the expansion gap is already there… it’s just that this is the only part of the floor where you can see the gap and it isn’t hidden by the molding.

Here’s the island… half is on the subfloor and half is on the flooring (Mohawk revwood)

Cabinets should not be installed on top of laminate flooring. So that needs to change. Shoe molding should match the white base molding, and the gaps should be caulked and painted.
