What are you doing 10924

It has started to rain. The new pink rain boots on the ready. Another day in the trenches. Milton. What a stupid name. I am on the safe side and expect no big action. Waiting for a hurricane is like waiting for a pot to boil but you have not turned on the gas.

My garden plans are once again on hold. The ducks have taken off to their winter home in Florida and everything is telling me it is fall. I just have a sneaky feeling winter will be early. The hostas are going down and look tired. We are all tired out there. Lots to do. I am one of the lucky ones.

Aww, be safe. I have talked to medical people that lived thru Katrina. Most of them were unable to work in healthcare after, it was that bad. Tampa Bay hospital is level 1 center did not evacuate and planning to survive via aquafence.

Not much going on here. Cleaning up most of the annuals, a little re-potting and some sprinkling. Looking for a good frost and clean up the hostas.

Stay safe Paula, hopefully the storm misses you. Yeah, tired here too.

I’m glad your home isn’t in the path of the hurricane..what a sad situation 😢..

Paula, it looked like you would have gotten some strong wind and rain. Are you still doing okay? Maybe the wind helped take your greenhouse down. A weather person said the wind is down to 90mph, so not that bad. I thought, that sounds bad to me!

Feeling sad for those affected. It would be so hard to know when to heed evacuation orders. It’s so iffy where it will hit the hardest. And who would have thought that people inland would have to worry about tornadoes?!?

We’re having great gardening weather, and I have a lot I’d like to do, but I am stopped in my tracks by Covid. My first time having it, and it’s miserable. I was planning to get the new vaccine today, but now I have antibodies for a while. Did it the hard way.

And my bulb order has arrived. 515 bulbs that will have to sit awhile.

Went to my local nursery today for 50% off perenials. Got some new hosta, two June, two blue mouse ears, one sun mouse. Also got three Hot Stuff sedum, my favorite….short, bright pink blooms, never flops. Now……where to put-them😱.

Thanks sherrygirl, I knew it would be hard to avoid forever, but I was trying. 😊 Disappointing to be sidelined from the gardens right now.

Nice haul from the nursery! All good hosta choices. I can’t tell if Sun Mouse is a mini or a small but looks cute. I’ve been adding more Sedums, too. The size of Hot Stuff would be good to tuck into places. No flopping is a bonus.

The up side for you - you did not get a bad hit from Milton. I wish I could say the same to others. Good that your pink boots finally got some use.

Lisa I hope you recover easily. Terrible that you are sick now, not that there is a good time to get Covid. You will have lots of work waiting for you when you feel better. That is a lot of bulbs!

Sherry sorry that you had Covid too. You did not need that after all you have been through. Yes very nice haul!

Still digging here! Getting more tired with each day!

Milton. Still a stupid name. Milton got locked in his locker at school. Often. No damage. I am one of the lucky ones. I was again out in it. Lots more rain than Helene but still only 3 inches. Thank you, God.

Covid. No one is to get covid anymore. That is so 2020. My orders. I once again am lucky as I have not had covid. I treated people who I had to remove at work and send home so I believe my immune system in up. Sandyslopes drink plenty of juices and sport drinks with electrolytes. I hope you feel better soon. 515 bulbs are waiting for you.

Clean-up seems to be the mode of the day and now that it is cooler I am getting some of it done. Honestly not very much is getting done. I am watching for eagles more.

Covid has no rhyme or reason. No adherence to a season. We have seen first flu B about a month ago. Little of work here, lots of family matters. Weather was dry, hard to move anything. But I have agreed to show my garden next spring for garden walk...so now have motivation... feel a need to rearrange couple of beds, improve drainage, create 2 -4 more beds. A bit too much of a bite but I kinda got conned into it. Oh and Van Engelen order of bulbs has shipped too.
