White Living Room Help!

last year

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice on how to finish off my living room. adding a carpet , coffee table, and a few plants to add some life to the space

Not the biggest fan of the couch but cannot return it..

I’m going for a modern, airy vibe and would love any suggestions on what would work well in the room. I’d really appreciate it!

Living Room/Dining: 11’-0 x 13’-8”
Couch Lengths : 119.5”

Thanks so much for your help!

You had another thread on a " boring" bath.

You want " modern and airy"

I think you need to spend some time online, come back and post some images of rooms that truly appeal to you.

You will get a thousand suggestions here......because.....?

You have sterile, as of this moment

A couch you dislike but can't return

A hard white, cold floor with no rug

    No cocktail table....

A hard glass top table/chairs w/ shiny finish.

The only warmth is in the kitchen cabinetry. ......so it's a bit unclear at this point what you really DO want, or what modern and airy suggests to you.

Perhaps a jute rug to ground the space, a tall plant by the windows, tall arched floor lamp and a coffee table. Then artwork above the sofa. These are from Rugs Direct.

First of all, I would avoid pushing the sofa against the wall if possible. If the sofa is modular, you can place it in a L shape. Add art on the wall also.. Then, the kitchen looks really nice and brown(ish), so I would add earthy tones throw pillows and blankets on the sofa to give colour and texture. If possible, I would change completely table (what about a round table?) and chairs and go for light wood. I think your colour palette should go for warm earthy and neutral colours. Also, what jackowskib suggests is good, especially about a plant and floor lamps (and a table lamp on a side table)... warm lights of course!

You need some color in this space.

IMO the sofa is driving the bus and without more info from you how do we know anything. Light and airy you have to the extreme IMO what is needed is a huge rug , art on the walls some wood to balance all the white shiny things so maybe a nice media wall sort of like this , large pice of art and a colr fom it for the rug , some plillows and maybe even a wall color . I would add drapes to that huge window for a bit of an airy feeling but finished . I like really full sheers often. This icis just for inspiration to show how a bit of wood warms up a space Maybe even a really cool electric FP . cOlor is always nice no matter what atyle you are going for . You for sure need a new chandelier hung actually over the table and much lower. You need lamps end tables so many things . Can that sofa be spit up ? I would do that if possible wit table to fill the corners and lamps . The wood I mention should be the same as the kitchen to keep it simple. I would also fill that space above the cabinets with some custom trim to match very simple .
