Bravo blohse, you did a very nice job! I was a floral designer for over 25 years. Not everyone can end up with a balanced, pleasing shape and style. Beware, though, I started out doing flowers as a hobby and ended up owning my own flower shop for 9 years and working for other shops for 16 years. Lol!

Painting is definitely my diy project.

wonderful to see venetian plaster as the first comment here! we have used this product for many years and many houses. why more people don't use it is a mystery to me. it is fun, easy, creative and gives your walls a depth that paint will never achieve. it is a no brainer for use on troubled walls with pits, cracks gouges, etc. talk about a silk purse from a sow's ear! spectacular. it works equally well in bathrooms; no sealing required. if you are new at doing your own work, this wall treatment will give your confidence an enormous boost!

And the closet in the bathroom - removed the door, re-painted and installed the new shelves. The upper shelves have a unique shape for easier access.

With just some tape / gesso (but only cause I'm a broke artist) / and a bowl of water made a mural behind & above my bed. I started at the top (once everything was masked off) then started adding a little bit of water to create a drip effect. The more I moved down the piece the less paint I used.

Been working hard on refurbishing a 1930 Sears and Roebuck home. Lots to do and lots of fun, one step at a time.

An out building I like to call the "Cottage" before and after.

Start on the kitchen gutting. 3 layers of linoleum and subfloor later, hardwood floors!

Along with the floors all the cabinets are being built from scratch.

Side entry, French door that leads off into space? Really? That HAD to be changed. Old oak leaded glass door at the Habitat ReStore $35 with all the hardware. That's a great find! Storm door too $75. Love it.

I love these threads! My prized DIY project is a pair (only one shown) of bed side tables that I made out of old pallets. My partner and I upgraded to a king bed which left no room for conventional bed side tables...my solution was to hang them on the wall. I found the pallets, ripped them apart, pressure washed the pieces and within an afternoon had the tables made. Total cost for both pieces: $3.98 for the hooks to hang them with. I catch a glance of these some days and puff out the ole chest a bit. lol Definitely my best DIY project to date.

mrmichaelburris - I love them!!! I made a nightstand for my hubby's side of the bed with an old Pepsi crate but haven't figured out my side of the bed yet. I was contemplating some sort of shelving for my phone and a couple books...your creation is perfect!

Put a little kitchenette in the detached bedroom suite

I couldn't find storage that I liked for the master bath so I purchased different crates, held them together with c-clips purchased from the local hardware store and voila, a perfect 3 tiered storage shelf.
The barn wood was pulled out of a friend's barn and I made it into the 6' wide x 8 1/2' high bathroom door. We had to put it together with the wood standing up as the hallway is very narrow. It took 2 people holding the wood vertically, while the other one screwed it together cross pieces first.
I used the same barn wood to make the 9' x 4' kitchen table held together with a 2x4 wood frame underneath and plumbing pipe for the "skirt" and legs.

Here is my most unique project - transforming an old sewing machine base into a bathroom vanity! I love the look of live-edge wood and knew that I wanted to incorporate a piece of burl somewhere in my home. It definitely is a conversation piece!

Donna saw a baby cradle and we decided to build one for a project. There is storage under the bed. This converts to a child's reading nook after the baby stage.

Here is a gear table with an 1930s era Ford headlight. Has a dimmer switch and a outlet for your device charger. Check out the shadow on the floor created by the holes in the gear.

Many projects on our new build were DIY (with my husband). Before this year, I had never cut floor tile, painted a whole house of baseboards, trim and crown molding, or helped with building furniture. Here are the "afters" of a few projects - the X trestle table, stairway to movie room, and Ditra and tiling on a 600 sf porch. I'm not sure I would want to do any of it again (definitely NOT the painting!)

I've done a few things in the past, sometimes successfully. For physical reasons, I now hire projects out, although I will paint a piece of furniture. So many of the listed projects are really well done.
