Those would be nice additions! Thankfully I have a sprinkler system installed so we can water automatically. I’m not familiar with that variety of palm tree- I’ll look it up.

That's the thing, some of these "succulents" do not want much water. I planted some of the same bromelia you see in the back pot in my front yard. Six of them and quite pricey ... they all died. Too much water from the sprinklers and some standing water when it rains, which happens often in FL summers. The one in the dry pot loves it there and has doubled in size. I did save a few of the "dead" ones and I'm nursing them back to health in temporary pots that I only water once per week and they seem to be recovering. It is hit or miss with plants sometimes, till you figure out what they like!

I agree a wtering system for plants that do not love water will be a disaster . The plants at the back of that bed do not look gappy either IMO do some gravel and big pots fillwed with flowering plants to give some color to that spot and you control the water . Bird of paradise comes to mind a nice well builtlattice with bouganvillia maybe but color for sure and yes non shedding too.

Bougainvillea drops a lot of stuff. Plus it has thorns. Imo there are already plenty of plants but they need to be spread out and the Aspidistras need to be divided.

It looks as though your cast iron plants are getting sunburned; better transplant them to a shadier spot before they die. You could replace them with yucca or agave if you want to keep this area low water use, and trailing lantana (comes in purple, white, or yellow) for the front of the bed.

Yes the cast iron plants have suffered from lack of water and full sun. I was advised to plant a small tree in the area to provide some shade during the day, or relocate the cast iron plant to a shadier area.

Don’t even THINK about planting bouganvilleas anywhere near a pool !!. Trust me, I know from experience. We have some planted outside our perimeter wall & it’s a constant battle to keep the debris from the pool. Additionally, our gardeners have an almost full time job keeping them trimmed back.

Ok thanks. That’s good advice. Our neighbors have several large pine trees and the needles are a constant headache. I’m thinking to keep this area simple, clean and low maintance.
