No painted accent wall. It's just not logical in your space as there's nothing to accent around a doorway. Neutrals are fine, but if you want to add color, then add art instead of a calendar or window treatments. Decluttering will also help.

Really? I thought for sure some paint around the door would break things up. But okay...I'll consider any suggestions because what I do on my own often doesn't work. LOL

I can certainly declutter...and here's a photo of the other side.

I'd probably repaint the whole kitchen and eating area. The beige walls against your gray tile backsplash isn't doing you any favors. The soft greens Lyn is showing you are great options. I might also consider soft blues. If you go with blues, think about painting all the window and door trim the same color as your cabinets.

P.S. Who tiled your backsplash? You should have stopped at the end of the upper cabinet, not taken it all the way to the door trim.

You can paint your kitchen, but do the whole kitchen. No accent walls with paint or wallpaper. That's been a DIY Tik Tok thing, but is fast becoming passé to have an isolated wall of color or wall of ornate trim. Does the green relate to something in the kitchen space (? counter) and adjacent space if the kitchen is open to a living space (? upholstered pieces)? Your backsplash looks gray/taupe on my laptop, so choose your paint color carefully since you'll be adding another color on top of the counter colors and backsplash as well as the adjacent rug.

The rug under the table is very pretty, I like it. It maybe should have been 6 inches or so longer, so that the chairs sit on it, even when people are sitting on it, but, it looks new, so I would make it work. Get a center piece for your table, and some window treatments, would look nice. Some nice art work, that goes well with the rug, would look nice too. Use colors in the rug for your accents throughout the entire space. I would not paint your trim. It goes with the trim on your windows and doors throughout the home, from what I can see. Leave it. Once its painted, its not easy to get it back to what it is.

I should have included all the pics at once. This is my counter close up and my backsplash. I like the idea of painting the whole space and just really need to work with what is in there as I'm redoing the next room (LR) next. (I have one dark green desk in there that will stay.)

With these pics added to the mix...does that change the color suggestions? I like the farm/country, rustic colors.

I like the countertop. It looks really nice and it has the rustic colors you like.

But the backsplash is not nice. The gray clashes with the counter because the overall color effect of the counter is brown/rust/beige. And it seems to me the tile shape is really old fashioned. I can’t tell what color the walls are; hopefully not gray.

Add some pretty art (not dinky) on the wall and window treatments.

Match all the trim in the kitchen to the CABINET white, The windows and trim weigh down the entire kitchen. Pick a pale sage green for the walls and declutter everywhere.

The back splash is a total do over! Same soft white as cabinets and a tile pro....

Tile should END at the counter edge. It's the grown up/sophisticated cousin to the counter riser, which would also end.........at the counter edge.

Get a rug for that entry back there.....after a thorough clean and tidy: ) or the flooring is stained?

littlebug zone/Jan Moyer...I agree that the backsplash is not helping. I wanted to love it but I don't. It's way to costly to replace and too soon after our remodel. If anything, I'd go over it with something, like a copper backsplash. That would give me the color I wanted and go nicely, I think?, with a sage wall color.

Agree with the sage green for the whole area. You have a lot of nice windows! Some artwork in eating area will be great. As Jan asked, are you able to add lighting over the kitchen table?

If you want to make a difference and create impact, consider:

Color: paint the entire space a green with same undertone as tile and test light to medium shades.

Paint the peninsula’s chairs the same color as cabinets, as they clash with dining set and won’t feel as bulky and reupholster seats (play up the pattern in tile - it‘s an easy job).

Create a connection/add interest: Add art, a chandelier and centrepiece.

Edit: suggest removing some items, so it doesn’t feel as cramped (rug, hanging plant and small table). Also the item between the windows and above doorway. Less can be more.
