I don't see any logical reason to match the minimal brushed silver metal ring on the chandelier. Better to select a finish that works with the style of the room.

Is this a floor mirror that you have turned on it's side or a wall mirror that is leaning against the wall above a sideboard.

It’s a wall mirror from a previous home. It’s just too dark. Want to lighten it up and keep some depth to it.

I would suggest you test this product on another item that is very carved and textured befor messing up the frame . You have depth with the carving and IMO nothing that gets rubbed on will be a good choice .I do agree to leavit or spray paint it

Rub n Buff works great. I have also used the Rustoleum sprays to change the color of light fixtures. It helps if you have a bit of an artistic touch!

With your mirror, to give it more of a silver finish, I would probably start with the Rustoleum spray to give it a matte silver look and then use the RnB to antique it. Always use several very light coats instead of one thick one.

Do I need to lightly sand it first or use a de-glosser to get the new applications to stick?

If it is a resin or other manmade product, clean it with Dawn Powerwash before painting. Rub ‘n Buff takes practice, as a non DIYer found the tubes I bought to not be forgiving.

Can recommend Q-tips for putting Rub-n-Buff in crevices and a t-shirt jersey material for flat surfaces. Don’t apply heavily as a little covers a lot of surface.
