Feature wall design

Looking to replicate this feature wall but not sure how it’s done. Do you think this is real barn board or a regular board? Also how do you go about getting the perfect y finished painted look? Thanks!

This is the first time I've posted to this disucssions so I thought I was doing something wrong. I came on to my laptop to try and post it instead of my phone, maybe that made a difference. Then again nothing else posts from my laptop.

Yes I see it now. That looks to be reclaimed wood.

It looks to be reclaimed wood with a solid color stain on it with some effort made to distress the stain a bit. You could probably gather free pallets and get the same effect for free.

To follow up - I have learnt that it is an ancient japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban where they burn and char the wood, sand it and seal it!
