Wood cladding on bathroom ceiling

last year

I'm planning on cladding the vaulted ceiling of a full bath with European Black Alder. The bathroom will have good ventilation - a dedicated continuous ERV exhaust with a boost switch. The ceiling is insulated with 6" of closed cell spray foam. There will be an air-gap between it and the painted drywall ceiling. I'm wondering if there's any coating I should put on the wood first? I really want to maintain the raw wood look and color (trying to make it feel like a sauna), and I doubt there's really any condensation risk.

Thanks!
