First freeze so I cut everything I could

It is that time of year where the first freeze comes so I try and cut everything in advance for the house.

Upper left: Parade Day and Amiga Mia (white Iceberg is barely visible in back). Center upper: Fred Loads and Lady in Red. Upper right: Smoothie, Dainty Bess, Winnipeg Parks and a small sprig of The Fairy.

Center left: Candy land surrounded by The Fairy. Center: Candy Land. Center right: Winnipeg Parks & Candy Land.

Lower left: Candy Land. Lower center: Candy Land and Winnipeg Parks. Lower right: Candy Land and Fred Loads.

Niel Diamond and The Fairy.

Lady in Red and Sally Holmes.

If you've got end of year pics I would love to see them!

Wow, mmmm12COzone5. That's a stunning finale to the growing season! I really like your vases, as well.

It certainly is stunning. I love those hot colors, but Dainty Bess with its soft pink is a big favorite. Love the pinks in the next photo, and that huge striped rose is just an eye popper. Can you tell us what some of these roses are? It's sad to see them go, but we do get a nice break from gardening. Diane

Thanks for the prompt Diane. I went back and added the rose names. I basically cut anything with color that wasn't falling apart. All the buds with color did open the next day! I was really pleased with that. I cut the first batch a couple of nights ago and it hasn't frozen yet so I just went and cut these this evening. Hopefully they will open also.

Kristine, Those are beautiful! The Daybreaker should open if you cut them for the house. I've been surprised how even the tightest blooms are opening in the warmth of the house. I just walked the garden and there are a few more I can cut today because they are showing color. Smoothie has been a pleasant surprise. Constantly blooming and lots more still coming.

If it does well through this winter I'm going to buy some more for landscape roses. I hope Matt at High Country Roses is going to grow them again.

The top of this dish had a smoothie spray. The blooms on the bottom were just tight buds. But look at them now!

mmmm- I also love those dishes of roses. Is that Dainty Bess down on the bottom right? I adore that rose! Sally Holmes has been the best rose here. People said she didn't bloom much, black spotted, etc.. but I have two..one own root and one is a pathetic bare root body bag from Walmart lol. They have been both blooming non-stop since I put them in. No black spot either.

Kristine! Gorgeous roses. I especially like your Quicksilver arbor! Its so romantic♡

Sultry, Yes the right hand large rose in the dish is Dainty Bess.

Sally Holmes makes such a nice cut flower. This is the other side of the vase that it is in. I was able to cut two sprays for the end of year vase.

The bud bowl is looking really good. I should have cut some more tonight.
