Exterior Trim on Victorian House

Greetings, Houzz mates!

I'm starting to gather ideas for new trim colors for our new village Victorian house.

We have beige vinyl siding that I don't love, but can't afford to replace, so we're thinking about new trim color or colors to give it a fresh, sophisticated look. (Not looking for a mulit-colored painted lady.)

The photo with the rusty red trim is current. And for reference, the second photo shows the prior color scheme, which I kind of prefer (if a bit safe). Definitely open to new ideas.

Also, do you think those shutters on the attic window are original to the house? They re definitely ornamental and strike me as a later addition. I go back and forth about removing them. Thoughts?

Paint the gingerbread the same color as the siding. Bring a piece of siding to the paint store and have them match it.

Yes, remove the shutters.

You have a gray roof so maybe a lighter shade from that for all the orange trim except the peak. That and the remaining trim should be the body color.

The front door could use some attention and make it a focal point. There is a lot of bulky door trim...is that the storm door? Consider a new front door that does not require a storm door. A black front door would be nice.

thanks, trace. yes, it's a storm door in front of the original wood door, which i don't love either. on my list to research alternatives.

Sage green trim would look good. The beige siding looks like it could use a pressure washing to freshen it up before the painters start on the trim.

The beige siding is fine. You have white vinyl windows so I would paint all the trim white. Remove the shutters on the attic window. Pint the door and storm door a fantastic color.

That's a nice gray but now I think I like the prior coior scheme better and add the black and white as in the first inspo by Celery.

Most paint companies have an online Visualizer where you can upload your house photo and 'paint' it using their colors.

I would keep the beige vinyl, but, I would try to pick a color that goes with the roof for all that is now a rustic reddish color. I would not replace the door. It fits your house, and storm doors are always great to have, if they are the type that has a screen on them too. I would never be without storm doors.
